i think what will be really telling on Comp O values is if they continue to climb even for cars with an accident or damage on the Carfax. for as long as I've been tracking values of the comp o cars (and being a former owner of a low mile example) the ones with a ding on the Carfax usually sell for much less than the clean Carfax ones. if these cars reach boss 9 or 302 status one day I think like most classic cars people will not care about that kind of stuff as they will just be happy to have they're hands on one. I've debating picking up a 40k CLEAN coupe recently but the only thing holding me back was a repaint of a minor panel that was documented on the fax due to a very minor accident that was cosmetic only.

I think it matters now, but eventually it wont. Eventually there will be a market for "fully restored" cobras.

At least I hope so, because my car is going to have brand new everything besides a odometer and a car fax lol.

i think both of you are right - as time goes on these kinds of things will matter less and less. i am remembering how it was with the first muscle car era and how quickly the pricing/availability seemed to change. yes i am old enough to remember that lol.

i was a mopar freak back then and had a couple of musclecars but never in colors that i really wanted. i had to pretty much take what was available and by the mid/late 80's the desirable performance options and cool colors had started to really dry up and prices were getting crazy. whereas just a few years before they seemed abundant. as mentioned though - if i was able to find one - i would have much rather taken a more ratted-out car in a high-impact color than say a forest green musclecar in better condition. to me, a wild, attention-grabbing color is an important part of the overall muscle car image. and, imo, comp orange is perfect for that.

another thing i think worth mentioning is about mileage and how it won't matter as much (maybe except to collectors who would never drive them anyway). a couple of years ago i remember watching an auction where an original-owner, unrestored but regularly-driven 4-spd 1970 t/a challenger in PANTHER PINK was sold for some unreal price. those cars (along with the aar cuda) had the special 340 six-pak engine, side exhaust, fiberglass hood, staggered size tires, etc - they were awesome factory hot rods. from what i gathered it never left the family for all those years and they still drove it and maintained it just like any other car. it had a lot of patina, but was mostly original. anyway what struck me most was that the car's mileage was never mentioned. it probably had a million miles on the odo lol. but it was like no one seemed to care... everyone wanted the car because it checked all the boxes for desirability.

I’ll be selling my comp oh in the next month or so. I have a couple people asking for it though so I doubt it’ll be publicly available.
