How many of you guys run a few gallons of 91 or 93 octane to your winter mix of E75 to help with cold starting issues...? Is that really all you can do to help a cobra or lightning startup in this 0-19* weather....?

If you can change the tune to add more fuel at startup, that would help. Running really rich mixtures of E85 can give a little boost to cold starting. But thats about it without changing the internals.

The thing is that the fuel needs to be warmed.

Delphi has come up with a new type of fuel injector that incorporates a heating element within the injector itself. And Denso is working on some kind of induction heating for injectors.

This is all in the Brazilian Market though, the little Ford Escorts down there run E100 and will soon have these same injectors so they dont have to run gasoline too for cold starts.

You could of course run some sort of a heating coil or mat around the fuel line, it would take a little research to find one thats meant for the job but its not impossible because they are out there, I just dont remember off the top of my head. :)
