What you will need: Ratchet with 8mm socket and an extension, Carb cleaner and Q-tips.

First, disconnect the battery (unless you are lazy like me and hate to reprogram your radio presets) then locate the IAC (circled in red) and disconnect the plug.

Remove the two 8mm bolts and be sure not to damage the gasket.

With the IAC valve off of the vehicle, spray Carb cleaner into the two openings and swab the excess dirt and debris out with a Q-tip.

(this pic was taken after the cleaning, forgot to take a dirty pic. Yours will most likely look much dirtier)

Once you have removed all the dirt, it won’t hurt to finish off by removing any left over dust and Carb cleaner by spraying it out with an air compressor nozzle.

Then bolt the IAC back onto the intake plenum and make sure the gasket is in place, re-connect the IAC as well as the battery (if you disconnected it).
