On another forum, one of the members developed a stress crack in his windshield, no impact damage was found. He went to his dealer and Ford initially denied his claim. They determined that the date code on his windshield was more than 3 months before his car was assembled, so it had to be a replacement. Long story short, Ford finally came around and has decided to replace the windshield. This got me to thinking about when the glass in my car was made and its relationship with the build date of my car (Jan 14, 2014). All my glass is either 2AE or 2AF. All the glass in my car with the exception of the rear window was manufactured in (DOT 287) VITRO FLEX SA - MONTERREY, MEXICO, the rear windows was made in (DOT 467) CARLEX GLASS COMPANY - VONORE, TN, USA . Here is what I found. I called Carlite Tech support and got the rundown on the window glass date codes. 2 A E = 2012 NOV First number is the year. Example: 2 = 1992, 2002, 2012 Any letter after the number indicates the month. Example: A = Jan B = Feb C = Mar D = Apr E = May F = Jun G = Jul AB = Aug AC = Sep AD = Oct AE = Nov AF = Dec Here is a picture of the markings on my windshield. The build date of my car was Jan 14, 2013. It is a 2013 GT500 coupe.
