So pretty much how the title states. The car overheats when it just sits there idling, but when I start driving it the temps drop down to normal. The temps do fluctuate when its running though. I see temps from 175 to 200 when running. what could it be?

I've got a 2000 GT that had a similar problem. It ended being a bad head gasket.

could be the radiator becoming clogged

Or condenser, are you running a/c?

Id look at your fan. The symptoms you're describing are an Air flow problem, thats why when you're out driving the problem goes away.

I was talking about being internally clogged, but debris is also a possibility

The fan is the first and easiest thing to check, but an internally clogged radiator will show these symptoms as well. Exact same thing happened to my mom's '01 several years back.

Overheat while not moving and cools down when moving is definitely a fan thing. This happened to my GT500. The fan motor was dead.

Hey guys so I finally got time to work on my car. Fuses were good connectors were good. Took the fan out and got it tested and was also good. Any other ideas?
