OK, so this has been a topic of conversation lately. It seems as though CA has kicked up its smog screening noose another notch. Cars are getting failed at smog even though modifications are CARB EO and self test monitors are all showing ready, all cat monitors on. Only thing that is different is that the tune has been changed.
This did not use to be an issue in the past. As long at the previously mentioned were met, it was an easy pass.
Can someone that is officially in the smog tech world or that works for the BAR explain what exactly is getting tested (screened for) now and what exactly the scan tool is looking for?
