I totally agree. When I lived alone, my weekly grocery run was $50-70. Bag + skillet = dinner. That, and I don't drink at all so my alcohol budget is $0 Granted, my wife is extremely frugal and is developing one hell of a skill in cooking, but the bill is almost triple now. 10 years ago when I was putting every penny in my '00 GT, one footlong Subway sandwich lasted two meals. Plus, I skip breakfast 90% of the time. Also true, though soyboys are more into whining about who has the better foam in their latte, hairless legs, and bright pastel shorts. But seriously, I've seen many cases where the living situation is a nightmare, but there's a fancy car in the garage, or the house is a castle. Just because someone has nice things doesn't mean their life is better in any way. There is a forum called MrMoneyMustache that is based on frugality and early retirement. I got banned from there because I'm not a liberal. Great place to lurk and learn money-pinching tricks, but bad place to socialize if you're conservative (ironic, isn't it?).
