I went from what you're building (Gen 1 Aluminator) to the next step, strength wise, a Gen 3, 5.2 block (good to 1400+ rwhp without sleeves), heavier duty rods/pistons. I have around $6800 in the shortblock. You can buy new, Gen 2 heads for $1450 and re-use your Gen 1 timing components and have a brutally strong bottom end that will make big power. I spent $3300 on head work with cnc port re-shaping, valves, springs, the works, but it's certainly not required. The new Gen 2 heads I mentioned, come fully assembled. I paid a Technician friend $2,000 to come to my house for the r & r. He completed the pull in under four hours and that's including pulling the accessories/brackets and neatly laying them out w/bolts in place on my shelves for re-assembly. This engine has been a great experience. I'm one year in so far. It exceeded my goal for output as well. Let me know if you have any other questions. Sent from my SM-G988U using Tapatalk
