JDM got my engine torn down today, they said everything looks great expect my stock balance was coming apart, so I'm happy they caught that and I'm doing a ATI 10% lower anyway, they also recommend I upgrade my valves to some Ferrea valves, so I figured what the hell. But Jim Jr has been great to work, here are the first pictures of the engine torn down. much more to come.

My car has the track pack, So it has the air to air oil cooler. At this time I have no interest in deleting the coolers, I wanted to do the rods and pistons so I can rev the car to 7k and not worry about snapping a rod. I feel I made right choice going with JDM, and they already have all my engine parts, bearings and gaskets.
You did make the right choice. JDM ENGINEERING is the best out there, and to me they have the best cams.

I'm definitely excited to finally have a cammed GT500, I've listened to a lot of videos comparing the NSR cams to the super stock cams and overall the jdm cams sound way more pissed off.

Thanks for all the help along the way Justin.

2011 gtcs,

I’m in Gilbert, when do you want to help me drop my motor and ship it to JDM?

I need to start looking into this as well. I’ve got 65k on my 5.4 and am in the mid 700s right now. Ticking time bomb I feel.

I am all about Aussie muscle cars. How did you get it over here @Willie ? I used to dream about bringing a FPV Falcon over. And stop with the teasing. Need a full frontal.

Yeah, it does resemble an El Camino. Good looking ute. Rare to see one, for sure. Too bad Holden disappointed/lost their customer base and it shut down.

I'm not going to hijack this thread, so if anyone wants further info beyond my info below, please message me.

For someone who's never heard of Holden, HSV, or utes in general, which is 9 out of 10 people, the question I hear most often is, "What is it?" For those like yourself, the question is exactly what you asked, "How did you get it here?" First of all, the U.S.'s rule for importing right hand vehicles is that it must be 25 years old or older. If not, the general concensus is they cannot be brought in. This is actually not true. There is a way, but the process is long, arduous, frustrating and not exactly cheap. One requirement is to convert it to LHD, which is a drop in the bucket. I can explain it all in detail if asked.

Bob, I'm sure you know utes were born in Oz, in the 1930s. Ford came along with the Ranchero in the 50s and a few years later, Chevy. And during the production runs here, the Aussies kept plugging away and built a 70 year tradition of utes that became icons in Australia.

Since GM shut down Holden in 2020, the prices of skyrocketed, especially utes, which affects mine too. That's because it's insured for replacement cost.

Been a little since I've been able to update this thread. Some good news, my Manley pistons finally showed up so the short block will be getting assembled over the next two weeks. the next big thing that's holding up finishing the engine is the cams. they have been on backorder since May when I originally ordered them, But after speaking with Jim Jr he said they're hoping to get them sometime in September. The goal as of right now is to have the engine back to me in late September, a month later than I expected, but not much I can do.

On a more positive note I finally finished getting my caliper painted sonic blue and added front two piece Girodisc front rotors that saved me about 22 pounds, I also got my CF10 wheels powder coated gloss black, and I switched to a PMAS 149mm intake and had my JLT radiator cover completely repainted. I'm beyond happy how everything is coming. I just need my engine now.
