My dad bought this 1987 930 Slant Nose new in 1987. I bought it from him in October and sent it to Patrick Motorsports in Phoenix for a complete refresh for its 30th birthday.

Pulled the motor and transmission for full rebuilds.
New Mahle piston and cylinder set to bump displacement from 3.3L to 3.4L, new 993 Supersport cams, new valves, springs, etc., new K27 7200 turbo, etc.
Strip and ceramic coat exhaust components. Strip and repaint muffler.
Completely remove factory A/C system and lines. Replace with modern components.
And a bunch of other, minor items.

Yeah, not factory original any more. Don't really care what this will do to resale value because I'm not going to ever sell the car, but I will drive it. It has approximately 89,000 miles on it already.

Patrick Motorsports facility. Lots of projects going on.

Wish I had more shots of the engine being built. I'll keep posting more updates as I receive them. This car was a blast to drive before. I can't wait to get it on the road after the rebuild is complete.

Nice. You'll enjoy the car. My father and I absolutely love our Slantnose.

I really like that. Those are definitely worth some coin now.

It should run really well with the new power.

not at my post...
Love the Slant Nose! A guy in the neighborhood I grew up in had white one, think it was a slant nose conversion, but cool as hell anyways.

Thanks everyone. This is a really special car to me and I'm excited to have it in the garage. It's definitely fun to drive and a head turner on the road! It had gotten to the point where stuff was just worn out from age. The initial leakdown test had cylinders #1 at 20%, 2 @ 10%, and 3 @ 15%. The other side was 2%, 5%, 2%. Vac lines were starting to rot, etc. It'll probably drive better than new when I get it back.

When I was growing up, my dad had an '86 Turbo and an '87 Slantnose Turbo. I have such a soft spot for these. I wish I was as fortunate as you to have gotten one from him. Great luck!

Part of the oil cooling system in the back was shot.

Had to remake it. You just can't buy some of these parts anymore.

It's been my experience that the cleaner the shop, the better the work

beautiful car and like someone said earlier, it's awesome that you're rebuilding your dad's (a.k.a. - the original owner) car
