On my way into work, I shift from 2nd going into third and BAM, missed! So I continued to push into 3rd but it ain't budging, the shifter is stuck. So now the car is being towed back to the house, not sure what the hell I'm gonna do. I guess I'll have to throw a stock replacement in there as money is a little too tight for an upgrade right now. Anyone got a used Tremec 4 sale??? :cryying:

I'm worried mine is going to let go anytime,it's been grinding 2nd over a Year now! I can't decide what way i want to go,if $$ wasn't a issue i'd get a T-56. But with $$ being a issue,a rebuild might be in my future.

Man, I broke mine in my first mustang, "91 GT". Then I got my cobra and broke it 500 miles after I put my Spec 2 clutch in. I drive my car hard so I don't really car, $300 buck and a few hours and I have a tranny in my car. People always have t45 used for sell, try to find a low mileage one and just slap it in there. Good luck bro!

I replaced mine last fall/winterish time. 2nd gear was grinding so bad, you had to pause a full second to get it in gear. Took more money htan originally planned to put the T-56 in, but man was it worth it. I will never go back, love that 6 speed.

Thats what I do!! LOL, I got lucky and found a tremec t45, which is cool cause tremec updated the syncros and a few other things. Seems to be pretty stout for the abuse I been throwin at it.

wow seems like 90% of the people that replied to this thread have been having tranny problems. Mines starting to make all sorts of interesting noises now. I dunno how long it has till it poops the bed.

wow good luck as much as i would love a T56 i dont think i could ever justify the cost. I would rather put that extra money into i dunno a blower or something....;)

When mine goes ill get a strong rebuild from hanlon or promotion etc.

Yep, mine is just sitting around collecting dust. If you are SERIOUS, I can work out a deal. I think shipping on the T-56 was right at $150, so a T-45 would be a little less. I have a price for the tranny in mind, but I will let you look around and see how you can do before I name my price. It has been rebuilt once. The only reason I replaced it was I wante the .50 6th, and the added torque capacity of the T-56.

BTW, neither of ours is "really" a Tremec. When Tremec took over, they didn't change anything in the T-45 anyway, but the 3650 is different.

i have had a 97gts that i broke the shift works in suicide shifting and bought a used one for 600 and sold the car than i broke the same thing in my 97 cobra at the track but not suicide shiftin and got it rebuilt for 300 bucks and now sometimes it throws it out of gear at the track if it hooks hard and in my 96 gt 5th gear synchros are bad cuz it had 430 gears and someone raced it thru 5th gear i guess...but as for mustang trannys they are junk i think i would like a t56 in my cobra if i can save up enough

Funky: If it's not changing gears, then your shift fork is blown. If you can find someone who does trannies on the side, it could cost as little as $300 to repair. I had the same thing happen, so a Ford Tranny specialist replaced the shift fork on the side for $275. Shifted perfect after that. He gave me the old cracked one after he replaced it

Yeah, I figured it was my shift fork. I have a T45 out of a 99' lined up for $250. I can put that in for now then have the other one rebuilt and upgraded, looking at the Hanlon rebuild kits. After doing a search (imagine that :rollseyes ), it appears I can swap some stuff over and hook up the mech speedo.
