Nice video! I like the song pick. The only thing better would have been an AC/DC pick. LOL.

LOL, thank you Bob. I picked that song because I felt it went along with my attitude when I decided to re-paint the car.

As you can see from lyrics below it talks about breaking rules, the streets being your school, can't get enough of a good time and being a risk taker. I felt that message lined up with my attitude and what I was going through while painting the car LOL.....

Yeah, I know, I'm goofy LMAO!!!!

Lyrics:

Lets go!
Oh yeah!

Spent all of my life breaking all the rules
Stepping outta line, the streets are my school
Can't get enough of a good time

Gonna live it up, while I'm a still alive
I'm a hell raiser, risk taker, full speed ahead
Till I'm dead in the fast lane
Live wire, wild fire
I'd rather burn up in flames then fade away

You gotta live it up
You gotta live it up
You gotta hit 'n run
You gotta live it up, oh!

Run the red light
Sleep when I die
Don't you ever tell me to stop

You gotta live it up
You gotta live it up
You gotta live it up

Okay everyone,

My parents are coming over today to hang out and watch some playoff football. So, this morning I did a little unmasking and some mocking up before I have to start getting everything ready.

All I can say is I'm VERY pleased. The fenders match the car now. SWEET!!!!

After I got the fender mocked up I decided to throw my old wheel and tire combination on. Wow, the car is looking great! Can't wait to get the taillight panel cut and buffed and finish the polishing process.

Those wires hanging down are from my 02 sensors. I swapped them because the car is running rich and I thought one might be bad, but it runs the same no matter which 02 is hooked to the ECU.

There's that 427! Man, feels like months since I've seen it. Good news. No leaks. SWEET!

Here is a close up of the upper part of the door and fender. It's a perfect match. Guess it helps when you use the same paint purchased from the same paint store LOL.

Close up of the stripe. There's some clear coat residue on the stripe at the door I need to clean up. Overall I give myself a grade of B. Yes, it matches and the end result is awesome, but I get a B because I had a couple do overs LOL.

I'll bet your heart is beating just a bit faster looking at that 427 peeking out of the engine bay. I see more light at the end of the tunnel!

LOL, that 427 does get the blood flowing Bob. However, my main concern, when unwrapping the engine bay, was finding leaks at the master cylinder or hydraulic clutch reservoir and seeing my engine bay paint eaten up. Thank God that wasn't the case.

Over on the vintage site there are some guys seeing the 427 for the first time. So, getting a lot of questions over there LOL.

Also, as mentioned, my parents dropped by yesterday. They seemed to be impressed. My dad doesn't say much, but my mom was very impressed with the paint job. She asked me how long I have been working on the car. I told her this May will be 2 years. My wife told my mom it's pretty much a brand new car LOL. Hmmm, guess my wife has been paying attention to how much work I have done to the car LOL.

Okay everyone,

Got back at it today. I unmasked the driver's side and cut and buffed the taillight panel. I cannot believe how good that taillight panel came out. VERY pleased with the results.

Here is the taillight panel process.

This is after all the sanding is done.

This is after stage 1 and 2 of the polishing process. You can see a slight haze in the lights reflection. This is why black is the hardest to do. It will show you every single mistake you make or if you are truly done polishing LOL. In this case I'm not finished polishing.

Here is after stage 3 polishing on the panel. Damn, this thing literally looks like a mirror. I've never been able to make black look this good. It pays to invest in good sanding and polishing products.

Wide angle. You can now see the haze of the lights refection is gone.

From the other angles. I really can't get over how well this came out. Almost don't want to touch it, but some assembly needs to be done LOL.

Speaking of assembly, I installed the items on the taillight panel very carefully LOL.

Got my brake lights put back in and got my filler neck put in place.

Got the filler neck attached and my gas cap installed.

Man, back in the day even gas caps were works of art.

Next it was time to get my 427 emblem installed. Time to bust out the laser level.

Looks good. All level.

This is the same emblem/badge I have on my glovebox door.

View of completed taillight panel. VERY happy with how this came out overall. I'll probably work on installing my backup lights tomorrow.

That gas cap is indeed a work of art. Classy. Everything is coming along so nicely. But, why did you put a vertical horizontal (FTFY) mirror on the back end. LOL. Nice work!

Thank you Bob!!! You are always too kind my friend!

So, the person tailgating me can comb their hair Bob LMAO!

LOL. We're getting so close to an actual FINISHED photo. I can't wait. Have a great day, Glenn.

Thank you Bob! I wish I felt the same. It still feels like I have so much to do. I even have more painting to do. Then there's the entire front end that needs to be assembled. Some interior needs finishing. I need to get my hood painted, installed and adjusted. I need to figure out my tire size before I can install my new wheels. It needs to be tuned before I can start it again. Uhg.....

In the grand scheme of things I think I'm close, but the finish line still feels a ways off.

Lastly, one thing you might not know about me is my glass is always half empty LMAO!!!

You also have a great day Bob!

I didn't mean to imply you were really close to finishing the project. I know you're months away. It just that I see some nice light at the end of a L..O..N..G tunnel.
