Thanks looks like a 5 and 1/4 ? do you have nav? BTW it looks like the mount of the enclosure uses the 6x8 of the previous years.

No nav. This mount will not fit a 6x8 without a bunch of modification. I think I paid $12 a piece for the speaker mounts that are made to fit a 6x8 speaker.

Here is the link for the driver and passenger side speaker mounts

This what I'm going to do 1st because my main complaint is the lack of midrange and treble but who can't use more bass so I will probably end up doing the new 8s and amp!

That was my main complaint as well. The bass to me was decent, but the cost to replace the 8's was a little more than I wanted to deal with. Plus, atleast IMO, they will make a good mid-range speaker. So I tossed in the Infinity's and ran the wiring to install a new amp and sub. If I end up needing more high's, then I'll add on another amp for the speakers.

I installed these on mine which has the shaker 500.

Amazon.com: JL Audio C2-570x 5x7 2-way Car Audio Speakers (Pair): Car Electronics

Using the speaker connector harness adapters, they were a direct swap and offer a much cleaner sound, especially with the windows down. You can actually hear the music itself over the road noise and wind rather than just a loud sound coming from the speakers.

I also took the liberty to line the inside of the door panel with B-Quiet Xtreme sound deadening

And inside the door itself.

And under the trunk/under the rear deck and all under the rear seat as well.

The amount of road noise that was reduced is astonishing. I didn't think it was ever that bad to begin with but it's quieter than my wife's Audi at this point. the only area that needs attention is under the center console/shifter. At this point, it sounds like there's a giant hole right under there exposed to the road. Eventually I'll drop in an MGW shifter and hopefully the sound deadening stuff they provide with that will alleviate the extra road noise from the center console area.

Nice this what I was thinking about doing as well. How do the speakers sound are you using just the amp from the radio. And my last question is how long and how much time did it take to do the sound deadening work?

they sound good w/stock amp. I'm not really an audiophile when it comes to car audio but there was a pretty big difference between them and the stock speakers...mostly a much cleaner and clearer sound on the road when the windows are down.

sound deadening took a while because I was pretty thorough with the stuff. Getting the pieces cut and applied to the inside of the door was rather time consuming just because you're limited in access areas to get into the door. There is a clear plastic cover that you can pull back to get into a couple of small holes but the main way is just to cut a piece and insert it through the hole where the door speaker mounts.

lining under the back seat and trunk was easy though. Lining the back of the door panel took a while too just because of all the little nooks and crevaces and there are also wires/cables that run through it.

Just remember, with the CLD(dynamat etc) you don't need more than 25-50% coverage. Any more is a waste. Dynamat and other similar products wont help with road noise. They are a damper. They prevent resonance. If you want to eliminate road noise you will need something heavy like MLV or Mass Loaded Vinyl.

It's less efficient but WAAAY cheaper and you can apply more than one layer of the b-quiet in places that you want since it's less expensive.

The foil layer in b-quiet is thinner than dynamat or other brands but honestly, I've been in cars that have been professionally lined with dynamat, damplifier pro, alpha damp, etc and there is not a huge difference in any of them in terms of being more or less quiet - just how much the owner paid for the material and in that regard, b-quiet is easily the winner.

It should be noted that b-quiet is more or less roofing patch tape sold as a big roll.. you can buy it at home depot, lowes or amazon

Doesn't change the fact that it works really well for the money though :-D

I should take my door panels back off and finish lining the inside of my doors. I didnt do the inside of the door panels since I noticed some deadner in there already. I did however line around the door speakers along with lining the backside of the door sub. Made a pretty big difference just doing that.

I also lined the decklid for the rear speakers, but I think I'll do the trunk like you did.

I've been using Thermo-Tec (Heat and Sound suppressor). Really happy with it so far and much cheaper than Dynamat.

I run these and LOVE them....in my F150 too!

Pioneer TS-D6802R
Pioneer TS-D6802R (tsd6802r) 6" x 8" 2-way D Series Speakers

Just installed these and cant say enough about them. Well worth the $60 I paid for the pair and a fantastic upgrade from the cheaper Pioneers. They run perfectly off of the factory HU, no distortion or clipping up to 75% volume, which is more than I ever turn it to. Yay.

I am considering doing this. Did you have to fabricate a bracket to make the 6.5 fit in the factory 6x8 location?

Nope, I just got an adapter plate off ebay. I had to get a little creative with the plate but it was no big deal.

I just drilled the door panel for the tweeters.

Yes, but it would be tough to fit anything useful in the stock location so I wouldn't call it a swap. I just used the factory line out as a signal source and a new amp in the trunk.

Factory Amp Plug:

I used JL Audio ZR800's (8" midbass/sub) but have been told any of these will fit the stock location:

JL ZR800
Dayton RS130
Vifa XT25 or LPG DA25

You need to do some very minor trimming on the grill for everything to fit right but otherwise it's P&P. The factory shell will sit very slightly above the surface of the panel but no one will ever notice.

Yes, but only in the most basic sense.
One more question are door speakers non woofer powered by the head unit? Because I wanted to put a amp in to power both fronts and woofers without having to run speaker wire?

You are the man thanks,
I'm going to get the JL xd 700 so if I want to add a sub I can. What do you think?
Doors will be the JL 8s woofers and JL 5x7 with the JL amp then I can always do a sub later...
