I have a 2007 Shelby GT500 with stock tires and 18" rims. I would like to go a little larger and wider in the rear (since the ft tires at a hair taller then the front). Thoughts???

Your stock rear tires are really the widest that are recommended for your stock wheels. If you are interested in upgrading your wheels as well the 295/40R18 size may be a good option for you. These would be taller and wider than what you have now. Its also possible to run a 305/40R18 with a correct, aftermarket rear wheel.

It's the rim width.

Tires wider than your OEM rear size typically need a 10" to 10.5" minimum rim width.

I think 18's look too small on the gt500 but 19's are perfect and 20's are too big!
