I was wanting to know what the best ported PI head is to use as far as quality and what they flow compared to stock? I do not want the new Trick Flow heads since I have PI specific forged pistons with valve releifs for that combination. Thank you!
Ive had great luck with my fox lake heads.
I've heard great things about Fox Lake.
just get the trickflows...you dont need trickflow specific pistons due to the PTV clearence is more...so ummmmmm just get the trickflows.. the 44cc pistons will leave the compression about the same where its going to be anyway..
I see they also have the R series now that has bigger valves and more flow. It would be tempting to get those heads and a Tork Tech TVS 2300 put on top.
the r heads can only be use on like a 5.4 or big bore motor due to the size of the valves...and they still arent out yet lol...
Ah! I see. I did not know they required a bigger bore. The only reason I am not leaning towards the trick flow heads is because of my pistons. I have arias pistons that have valve releifs for the valve angles on a P.I. head so I am just afraid of running a big cam and the trick flows. I do have the good 8 thread heads on my car now so I thought about pulling them off over winter and getting them ported but just dont know if its worth it. I heard just doing light port work on the exhaust side makes a big difference as well.
you can run big cams with the trickflows and stock pistons because the head is total different design so takes alot to get PTV...a valve relief pistons isnt needed unless going with a big ass race only cam...
nice bump...
I have custom pistons with valve relief for stage 3 PI heads but ended up getting TFS trackheat 185's since I was told that livernois nor patriot had cores available to port and shipping was not an option there and back from California. I also didnt want to take the chance with used heads that would of needed more work, so, I just bought the TFS heads instead. The TFS heads are well worth it...the 3/4" deck will take a beating! You know incase something ever lets loose.
What type of pistons are you running? I will try to find a picture of my pistons to show what im trying to describe about the raised area on the pistons.
