044 is a bosch pump that has been used in porsches for a LONG time. They have long been considered a very high quality high flow OEM pump. Much better than Walbro. They are available from Jayracing. They can be found on ebay but you are likely to get a chinese knockoff... Jayracing reverse engineered the 044 and replaced the plastic impeller with a ceramic one (according to his marketing specs). They are actually less than the Bosch pump so I decided to give them a shot and have been quite pleased. They have always struck me as being an inexpensive pump. The BS they pulled with their 455 pumps that were initially claimed to be E85 compatible, then turned not compatible after a bunch of people had extremely early life failure pretty much sealed it for me. Walbro at a minimum should have refunded or given out E85 compatible upgrade pumps free of charge.
