What is the real benefit of having cut outs?
What are the negative effects, aside from the noise? Is there a chance that she'll run lean?

A cutout will let about 80% of your exhaust gasses flow through the open pipe which will give you maximum power. then you can close it back up when you want it quieter.

Lean? i think it will depend on the tune on your car, but that could happen.

it really is the best of both worlds because you can have a quiet car and then with the flip of a switch you make maximum power and have lots of sound.

Ok. How would a cut out effect a turbo? if at all?

I think i have a stock tune. Im still trying to figure out what has been done to my car. i just bought it recently and the documentation isnt 100%.
I found out i have a cut out by looking at the exhaust.....no real paper work on it.....or the drag suspension.
The cut outs not electronic but i know i could jerry rig one. ive seen a set up i can buy on ebay that i can use.

most mustang people dont because dual exhaust is generally very effective. An open cutout will give less backpressure and let your turbo spool quicker.
