What is the real benefit of having cut outs?
What are the negative effects, aside from the noise? Is there a chance that she'll run lean?

A cutout will let about 80% of your exhaust gasses flow through the open pipe which will give you maximum power. then you can close it back up when you want it quieter.
Lean? i think it will depend on the tune on your car, but that could happen.
it really is the best of both worlds because you can have a quiet car and then with the flip of a switch you make maximum power and have lots of sound.
most mustang people dont because dual exhaust is generally very effective. An open cutout will give less backpressure and let your turbo spool quicker.
