Belt size question - Gatorback 78" belt 2.93/4lb combo is that right?

I would need a 78" belt for my 2.93 / 4lb combo with 3.2 alt and full metco idler set. Gatorback PN 4060780

Is that the same size belt size all you guys are using with this combo?

I am running a 79 inch belt right now that's chirping badly after 1000 miles.....

Hmmm seems too small to me. I have that combo but with a 3.5 alt pulley and 2.76 upper and I have a 80.5" and it's tiiiight. I'm not sure how much extra length my two diff pulleys add tho.

I'd try a gates belt instead of the gatorback, we use gates on all our cars at work and never seem to have issues.

Ian, if your idlers are 3 90mm and 1 100mm then that is correct. If they are all 100mm idlers then it will take an 81" belt. I used to run that same setup.

I'd try a gates belt instead of the gatorback, we use gates on all our cars at work and never seem to have issues.

I have gone through two gates belts in less than 3k miles, one of which was a HD Green belt. Chirp so bad!!

I hate Gates belts. I sanded the label down, and that HELPED the chirping a decent amount, but it's not 100% gone.

so just to update this thread.....81" is WAY to long. zero tension on the tensioner and got a ton of belt slip

I just bought a 78, hoping that solves it. Had to buy another gates since no one stocks Gatorback

So how it went FromGTtoSVT ? Any issues with that set up ? Im thinking of running the same setup like you. just that i dont know what belt size to use , with 2.93 - 4 lbs and 3.2" alt. and the 3 90 and 1 100 idlers.
