How much of that area that is scraped up actually shows?

Basically none. If you get really close and look at the tips, a bit (maybe 1/4) of it can be seen, but from a couple feet and beyond its al tucked under the car.

This all depends on how far your exhaust system causes the tips to stick out of course, my observations are with the tips being an inch or so out from under the diffuser.
