Pretty sure the free tunes were being offered to those who previously had used Bama tuning and had switched to another tuner. But you can buy a tuner from them with two tunes for like $400, with revisions for life. That's pretty hard to beat.

When you get enough posts on this site, private messaging will be available.

So since this thread is reference to Bama...I'm considering purchasing a '13 5.0 and I'm a little concerned. It has a steeda intake and Bama tune. I'm a little weary. I'm fairly sure the Bama tuner is just an SCT3 with Bama's name on it. Would I be able to get it retuned by Lund with that tuner?

As far as I know yeah. Just make sure the stock tune is on the device. Then call Lund and they will email you their tune and you download it to the SCT handheld and the upload to the car. Is the guy going to give you the car with the tune on it and the handheld?

Yes he is. The whole bolt on thing is new to me. I'm coming from a '12 that I built as soon as I bought it new. See my sig.

No response on Ghost tune, but wanted to give my feedback on bama V2 tune (I also had the old bama 93r tune years ago)

my car has an airaid cai and gt500 mufflers, 2011 gt mn6, everything else stock

Got my sctx4 in the mail in about 24 hours, very fast turnaround!
loaded the 93p tune at first, wasnt very impressed
loaded the 93r tune, other than having to add a couple hundred rpms to limiter (they didnt change it), loved it!
I can notice wot response is better, car is now spinning in 1st, 2nd and 3rd much easier, feels torquier
easy driving is not compromised at all, feels stronger than my old bama tune did def
im going to put it on the dyno and see what we got, but so far worth it!

I wasn't impressed with my 93r tune. Did the tune jlt cai and cat deletes at the same time and picked up a tenth in the 1/8th. I was expecting a big difference especially with cat deletes. I'll be sending in some data logs soon. Might be making a switch if it comes back with no revision needed.

Is it a possibility you were spinning allot more? Cat deletes should've got you that alone.

any updates on numbers?

What are you revving to now? I have the same mods on a '14 M6, but stock tune, leaning towards bama though.

V2 Tune feedback and track results

Well, due to this thread I decided to pull the trigger and get a V2 tune for my 2014 A6 Premium, with 91 tune. My only mods are GT500 mufflers for a bit more sound, that's it. Overall I am pleased with the tune, but a couple things bug me. On the performance tune, my main complaint is that when coming to a stop with closed throttle, there is a clunk when the transmission shifts from 3-2 and a much worse one from 2-1, so much so that my wife asked me if something is rolling around in the trunk! LOL

The race tune has a lot more aggresive throttle, but the shifting is so harsh and aggresive and bangs on all the downshifts that it is totally unusable on the street, I find it so annoying. This leads me to think that Bama is not the best for an auto tune. I anly run the performance 91 tune.

I have been trying to get a tune revision for the past month, after 2 weeks, they sent an e-mail saying sorry because they were so busy, I sent them my data logs at their request, and still waiting 2 weeks with no reply, even after emailing them a couple times with the usual auto reply back from them, no answer. So, all those complaining about bad customer follow up with some tuners, guess what, Bama has been the same, to me at least.

Now for drag results, I couldn't be happier. It was my first time out with the car. I pretty much unloaded the car, went through tech and hit the staging lines. With traction control off, shifter in sport mode I just rolled on the accelerator softly because I was not sure about traction with the stock rubber, I pulled off a 12.821 @ 111mph!

Second pass, let the car cool down a bit and left a little harder, ran a 12.637 @111.45mph! That was my goal for the night and I got it on the second pass ever with the car. I ended up helping a buddy with his GT500 for the rest of the night so I didn't manage any more passes, but I think a 12.5xx pass would be possible. And remember, only mods I have is the tune, and GT500 mufflers for noise. I am pretty happy with the results.

I am still going to wait for a tune revision.... one day.... but my future mods are for Kooks headers with a catted h-pipe and for that I think I will go for a Lund tune.

Hope this helps some who are thinking of giving the V2 tune a go.

Guys, I pretty much never post but did want to at least give my honest feedback on the Bama V2 tune.
I've ran the V2 race tune in my '12 GT 6MT with Airraid race CAI, Lethal O/R H pipe, & Borla Touring axle back for several months now and I think it's fantastic. I dyno'd the car on a dynojet a while back and in 95 degree heat only put down 385 whp and 391 wtq, but this thing pulls HARD on the street that makes me not worry about those dyno numbers. I was however very pleased with the torque numbers. I plan on going to the track in another month and a half or so, and when I do I will post up my results. But on the street, I took out my friend's cammed/headers/tune G8 GT as well as putting about 3-4 carlengths on a friend's stock '15 Challenger 392 Scat Pack 6MT multiple times in a row. I've got vids of these races (in Mexico) on my Youtube channel (DavezGTP), but don't know if it's ok to post racing vids here.

Judging off these results, I suspect my car is trapping 115-116 mph which I'm very happy with.
Bama seems to be on their game now with their tuning, at least in my humble opinion.

The Bama SCT tuner seem like a great deal for only $400, considering you get the X4 tuner plus two proven stock tunes from Bama which appear to rival any other good tune, as well as getting access to Bama's "free tunes for life" program. Whenever you mod your car, Bama will send you a custom tune for your upgrades.

If you order the SCT tuner by itself from a different site, such as Amazon, it appears the SCT tuner itself sells for ~$340 without any custom tunes, or "tunes for life". (You can still get Bama tunes for your tuner, as long as you pay several hundred dollars each time for them.) So getting the Bama tuner for $400 seems like a no-brainer if you want Bama tunes.

Furthermore, if we are unhappy with the Bama tunes for some reason, it seems like we could keep the SCT tuning device, and just download other tunes from other tuners onto the SCT tuner, correct? (i.e., a Lund tune) So in that regard, you still have use of a top-notch tuner tool.

Edit: Someone correct me if I'm missing something here.

I run the Bama tunes in my 13 with a BBK CAI, BBK 85mm TB, Cat delete, Ford Racing X, Flowmaster Axle back and have been happy with mine after my first revision. I was a bit let down at first, but I then updated the tuner (like 147 updates) and reloaded the tune and the difference was night and day. I will say that you can submit a revision request today, and have it tomorrow in many cases. And then revise it again the following day and have it again in 24-48 hours during the week. They have amazingly fast turn around, and if you go through AM their service is second to NONE. I have had previous experience with other major market player tuners and none have been as easy to deal with as AM/Bama. You really can't go wrong, even as stated above if you just take the tuner elsewhere.

The Bama tune is a bargain for sure, considering it is close to the cost of the tuner alone. And yesYou can load and run anyone’s tune with it. But only if it does no damage, and offers better than stock drivability, and decent power. Now with my experience so far, there was some knock activity, so in my tune revision the spark was adjusted. I was running 92 octane on a 91 octane tune. Driveability was improved over stock overall, but there was some shifting issues, especially when decelerating, it was very clunky. The current tune revision I have has this adjusted for sure, but I am not sure it is good yet, I will have to drive it more. Now the power is not an issue, it pulls hard! I have no dyno numbers but results at the track are great.

I must also admit the customer service from AM is fantastic. And the guys working on the tunes seem to honestly try to iron out your issues. I have a background as a diagnostic specialist for a luxury European brand, and I have also built and tuned my owned Megasquirt system on a turbo Fox Body, so I can appreciate how difficult it is to hit the nail on the head with tunes. Especially for someone as picky as me!

It is hard to tune without the car on a dyno. When I had my blown 5.4 navigator done it took 4 revisions with data logging to get it just right

And even harder to tune the auto shifting strategy. That can only really be done on the street. Got to cut these email tuners some slack and be patient if they are working with you.
