So who's selling the inserts ? I purchased my ATS calipers about 6 months ago and they've been sitting on my toolbox because I wasn't sure if I wanted to drill out my spindles.

Not Much to report. Modeled up some new inserts...not much time to machine a pair.

My new pair will relocate the Caliper down a tad...which leads to a new concern. If I move the Caliper down the pads are close to this valley in the rotor. These are factory 99-04 Cobra rotors. The rotors I have on my fox have a ridge here, the pad would be very close

Found some other pads that may fit. I mostly wanted to test fit to see if they also were shorter on the top. But no difference there. D810 pads from the viper and a few other vehicles. Got these on closeout for $6 just for test fitting.

    Same shape, but shorter

However, clamping force from the pistons won’t exactly be even given how close the pistons are to the edge

Eh, was worth looking into I guess

I've tested brembo brand rotors, stop tech, and Motorcraft all fit fine

Are you trimming the pads at all?

The pad is physically wider than my OE cobra rotors front face. If I relocate the Caliper down to avoid trimming the pad on top, the bottom of the pad hangs in the breeze. I don’t think trimming can be avoided.

This is with pad material even with top of rotor. Bottom of pad is hanging in the breeze.

Looks like a different casting then. I don’t plan to use these rotors but something that should be noted.

The rotors on my car are similar to the ones in your photo.

Looks like that face on my OEM rotor is 2.2” in height before that “valley” on the rotor and on the backside. I measured the aftermarket rotors on my car and get just over 2.3”.

The pad material on the ATS brembo are 2.4” in height.

I’ll have to wait to see how the pads sit once I machine my spacers. Right now the hating factor is the calipers don’t clear the 98 cobra wheels I want to run. Need to solve that issue first.

If I end up trimming 0.1” off the top and bottom of the pad...not the end of the world

Mustang 5L5, is that the 13" rotor you're measuring? I would have expected more surface area.

    Yes, that’s a factory rotor off an ‘03 Mach1.

The cobra r brembo kit pads. Looks like the ATS will offer more clamp then these and still be superior. My kit put the pad just proud of the outside edge of the rotor as seen in my previous pictures. Up to the user whether they see fit to grind that little bit off or not I suppose

That’s interesting how brembo allows for 0.3mm of pad overhang.

That’s not much but I’m still surprised to see any is allowed.
