Anyone running radial fronts (ex. 185/55/17) with fat bias-ply rears (ex. 28x12.5x15)? I know they say don't mix them but what's the difference than running stock front tires and slicks like some do at the track. I want to buy fat and skinnies 17/15 set-up and really like the Hoosier QuickTime Pro and M/T E.T Streets. I saw a guy selling a set of wheels with M&H 185/55/17 radial fronts but wheels need rear tires so I was debating on them. Just trying to see how much it's going to run me? Do the bias-ply drag tires HAVE to run tubes? What is the reason for tubes?

If your running a slick or bias ply outback, you really should run a bias in the front. Running a radial in front has be known to cause spin outs/accidents and sway out back due to the front not having sidewall flex to move with the rear.
Also you don't have to run tubes, just be sure to inspect the slick for signs of damage often. Tubes are used to help with air leakage and can help with consistency and stiffen up the side wall a little. It's really up to you, I never ran tubes and had fwd and rwd cars on slicks without any issue.

It feels like the rear tires are flat at higher speed. I've run 11.40's and was ok with it. It's kinda like driving in snow a little bit of wheel can get you out of shape in a hurry IMO. I'm going to try radials F/R on this car suppose to drive good. You can run them without tubes, they might go flat in a few weeks sitting.

I have run ET Streets on back with stock wheels on the front with no issues. You do have to have some respect for the setup though. My current setup is a set of Racestars with M&H radial on front and MT Drag radial on rear and also MT Et street bias ply with no issues depending on which track Im racing.

With skinnies it will not be an issue. With a big ass radial up front, and a slick out back, it like the car has a hinge in the middle. Not fun.

Cool so running the skinny 185/55/17 M&H radial up front with a Hoosier QuickTime pro 28x12.5x15 should work fine for me then? I don't want to run tubes due to having TPMS in my wheels.

For a 6m car with 3.73 which tire will be more forgiving and produce better 60'..... E.T Street 28x12.5x15 , same size but Hoosier QuickTime Pro or M/T E.T Radials 295/55/15 or 325/55/15? The rim is a 15x 10

My Bogart's have hoosier radials up front and quick time pros out back and no sway at all.

A couple of questions I have (Hope you don't mind KIXASS) I'm going to run Racestars with the M&H 185/55-17's in the front and M/T ET Streets in the rears. Will this be somewhat streetable? Also I'm going to run 15x8 in the rear with either 275/60-15's or 275/50-15's. Which tire should I go with? And for the guys with Racestars do you use TPMS valves?

Get a drive-shaft loop and run radial slicks along with your radial front-runners.

I run the M&H radial fronts with the Hoosier QTP's in the rear. I don't notice any sway on the street and just a little at the top end but I think it's from running the QTP's at 15 PSI.

I do not run tubes and my tires have held air since March or so.

And, yes I run the TPMS on my Race Stars.

With my stock 245/45/19 tires I crossed the finish line in 5th gear. In order to go through in 4th, will a 28" do the job or a 29" tall tire do it. I believe my stock wheels measured 27.9". Next question.....on a 10" rim with7.5 b/s should I look into the 28x12.50x15 ,28x11.50x15, or 28x13.5x15?

Same here, no issues. Street or track.

I run a 205/70/15 radial on a 4.5 inch rim on my Malibu with 29.5 x 9 x 15 MT slicks. The car runs 139-142 mph and no issues. Be aware that if you run a bias ply rear with the stock radials (something big and wide) the car will be squirly on the street. I put the slicks on my 2012 stang ( stock wheels and tires on the front) and gave it a shot on the street once you let off the gas at speeds over 60 it was very scary. As another member stated "it will feel like the car is on a hinge" I haven't tried it at the track. It may be better at the track since the surface is usually very smooth and flat. The malibu does have a little body twist issue issue though. Maybe I should run bias plys up front. LOL See below:

I have ran 26x10.5 (8") ET Streets and 165r15's up front.

What I noticed:
-Fine at lower speeds
-You're not going to fly off the road, just don't try to corner hard. Be smart.
-Under hard acceleration with low PSI in the rears, there is some rear sway that increases as you go faster.

I've cruised with them at 80mph and had no problems. I just wouldn't want to have to make any kind of panic maneuver with that tire setup.
