Anyone regret 3.73's in a 4V?

I borrowed the 4.10's out of my white car to try out on my 4V with the blower.. The car certainly moves out, but this one is more of a cruiser, with possibility of moderate highway usage. How many guys are running 3.73's? Any regrets? Spinning 3k on the highway is a little much for me, and I really don't want the expense of a t56 just for the use of a taller highway gear.

Pic because you deserve it..

I went from 4.30s to 3.73s and I didn't regret it at all. I even had a T56 with both gear sets and I was much happier with the 3.73s in my NA cobra

BTW great looking cobra! are those retrofit headlights?

I also thoroughly enjoy my 3.73s. Its a step up from 3.27s without turning to fast at highway speeds.

Also, I believe those are the Depo Projector Headlights.

I daily drove an NA cobra with 4.10s for a year and now I have driven an NA cobra with 3.73s for a year.

I like both. For performance and fun the 4.10s are much better (1st & 2nd traction are issues). While the 3.73s seem much more sluggish they are a very comfortable highway gear. With the procharger the 4.10s were too much for the power and annoying driving with terminator guys that like a cruising altitude of 85mph.

Just went from 4.10s to 3.73s, I feel like the 4.10 is great if you are NA but once you have a blower if you would like some kind of traction in 1st and 2nd gear then 3.73 is a good choice. For a centri car 3.73s are where its at

Run 3.55's, lighten the car up, add some long tubes, and raise the rev limiter so you can shift at 7 w/o tagging the limiter.

I've had 3.27, 3.73, 4.10, 4.30, & 4.56 geared modulars.

I had 4.10's with 630rwhp.. It was awesome.. Wouldn't have given them up for 3.73's.. With that said I'll be running 3.73's now.. but i'll be in the 750-800rwhp range.

But you also had a custom geared T56 Magnum as well. Most of us are still rockin' the T45.

BUT FWIW, I had the stock T45 and 550rwhp for a while with 3.55's.. And it sucked.. So.. I would have to say that with 425-450rwhp and 3.73's wouldn't be much of a difference.. Don't fear the gear.. Get a tire that hooks and let it rip

There are calculators online to punch in the gears and tire size to see what RPM you would spin at certain speeds.

I started a thread about this a couple of months ago as I was having some traction issues at my power level (500RWHP) with the 4.10's. I just finished up my new suspension setup, running essentially the same exact tire (Toyo R888 305/35/18 vs. 315/35/17) and the traction is much better. I can attribute the traction getting better to upgraded suspension components, but I still have to peddle the car.

My only knock on the 4.10's and a centri is I wish I had longer 2nd & 3rd gears. Vettes are pulling well into the 120's in third where as my car with the 4.10's is in the top of 4th at that mph.

So I finally got some seat time after switching from 4.10s to 3.73s, for reference my car put 505 at the wheel and I have a fully built suspension, lca's, uca's, panhard bar, torque box reinforcements, etc.

With the 4.10's as mentioned above the gears are def too short, the 3.73s let the car sit in boost longer and it feels like it pulls much harder. I don't feel like it's sluggish at all and it amazing cause I can actually use 4th gear to cruise around in, with 4.10s I was always throwing it into 5th

I run a 315/35/18 toyo proxes tq drag radial and they hook awesome with 3.73s, with the 4.10s the top of 1st would start to get a little sketchy. The nitto 555r drag I had on it before didn't have a chance in hell in getting traction until somewhere midway through 2nd

I think it really depends on what you want. If your looking for a red light racer go with 4.10s, for all around good drivability I think 3.73 is the best option

I have 3.73s in my Cobra and think they work well when open tracking. If I was running any more gear, I'd be forced to shift into 5th toward the end of the straight. 5th is a long throw for my short arms when I'm strapped in.
