I really can't wait for the reveal of this car. I hope it's soon.

...I think this is definitely the last of the breed...it will be fast as balls.

I appreciate the perspective especially given the deafening silence beyond a silly CGI clip.

It's definitely a more aggro, nastier car.

When you look backwards to inception, I think you see a car become more mundane each year. I like the idea that styling seems to continually shift towards something substantially angrier. The GT350 is a classic beauty and proportioned very well. If the edgier lines of the 2018 Mustang GT are any indication as to where the GT500 is headed (in comparison to the GT350) I think I'm going to be very happy. Coupled with instantaneous grunt and a commensurate chassis....all things point to intense.

My hope at this point is that there is somebody fighting successfully to ensure that the car can match the vision and not be watered down such that it becomes a boat full of compromise. It still somehow feels as if the reality of this car is a long ways away.

I wonder if there’s been a huge super bowl ad space buy by Ford. That would be a cool place to show the car and quickly break the internet.

Looking at that dash pic showing 7-72, Transmission wise, 3xxx rpm at 72mph is 1:1 territory. My bet is 10a. Maybe there’ll be an optional dct but I doubt it.

Engine temp was about 217° (guess)
Oil pressure was around 75psi
Oil temp was around 145°
Outside temp was 82°
Miles was 74.3
Fuel was about 95%

It’s a good bet, and maybe more.

The Gt showed 4th and 55mph and ended up at “460” but makes 430whp...

The gt500 might end up at “775-780” but really make 725-750whp...

The hellcats make 600whp and weigh 4500lbs, the demon make 730whp on race gas iirc and weigh 4200-4450lbs. The zl1’s make 560whp and weigh 3900lbs.

If the gt500 put out 700whp at 3900, with the 10a, it’ll be an easy 10/high 9 car when on slicks.

When DBK said this car is more of a beep beep beep go car I immediately doubted that a dct will be in the car. At wot, a 10a is very fast.

Hellcats put down more than 600 on average.

Demon so far has been putting down low 700’s on pump gas. 770+ on race gas.

A buddy of mine does tuning at his shop. We did pulls for giggles a couple years ago, to see what it was making. Don't remember the exact numbers, but I want to say 630/580 about right. The Car : Power ratio was about 7.5 lbs per lbft of rwtq and 8 lbs per rwhp.

I’ve seen 600-630 for stock hellcats.

The demon dyno test I saw made 730 on pump and 770 on race gas.

Mild corrections of 30-40whp.

At those power levels you’d have a hard time feeling 30whp but sure, it’s off.

Trinity Gt500’s put down 580-620whp.

Pick your dyno, pick the weather.

My own car has made almost 830whp on the same tune I claim makes 800. It’s also made 770 on that same tune. Pick the weather, pick the day.

I'm not saying it's a beep beep beep car, just that it's a lot better for that than a GT350.

It's not a beep beep beep car.

I get that, the last one even with the sra and weight distribution it had as well as mild tire setup was actually very capable. I think there is potential for the new gt500 to outperform the gt350r in overall handling and peak grip/ road holding when properly equipped.

I’m wishful but not anticipating a dct though. I like dct’s a lot. I recently spent time in an older bmw with a dct and while it’s not like a true manual, it’s nice.

Couldnt disagree more......the S550 looks soft and feminine compared to the S197.....very Euro....which, of course, wasnt an accident, obviously. Hopefully they will stop trying to appease the liberal douche-nozzels overseas and start building a manly looking mustang again. </flame suit engaged>
