Folks have a concrete patio with a pergola built over it. When spring gets here, I'm going to suspend it with rope from one of the beams. Burnt the H in with two R's flanking it for a personal touch.

I get the itch to build some things often too. Tank stands are crazy expensive so I build my own and the wife wanted a bed swing for the porch so had to hook her up there. I don’t have a pic but built my built in bookcases for our house when we built it.

My current project, had this given to me if I moved from the property it was on. I’m 6’3” and can stand up on both floors. Finishing reattaching the wiring this weekend, then onto the trim work.

Everything shown looks great by everyone! Awesome job!
Here are two pens I made real quick. The black finish is bolt action rifle rifle and the silver finish is a gear shifter.

I had a client that had some reclaimed hardwood floor from James Madison's house (yes! THE James Madisons house in Montpelier) installed in thier 100 year old Mansion. The Carpenters and installers removed and broke the original and could not rebend the shoe mold to bend in the odd contour of the first radius step. If you look closely at the jig I made and the piece that was formed it is far from a smooth radius. Bending pattern jigs had to be made and wedge holds to be cut in the mold to achieve radius to replicate the contour. A piece of non kiln dried oak with straight grains had to be milled from large stock. I put it in a steamer and let it dry. I custom mixed the stain to match and installed. Although not my most intricate work, it is the most recent.

That’s some awesome work. I don’t have the patience for stuff like that. That wood looks great but I don’t like the color of the first spindle. Seems out of place with the natural wood and the other white spindles.

I agree 100%, what we have to recognize is that this is 100 year old millwork with few coatings and original appearance.

One pepper mill I turned in cherry finished with friction polish.
The other is the first pen I will offcial sell to a Co worker. The wood is granadillo finished in polished CA glue with a gun metal bolt action mechanism.
