Hey man, I use Summit Stars for my rear drag wheels. The quality is great, the finish is no where near as shiny as my Welds up front, but I really don't mind, I use them at the track and thats all. They are pretty light for a 15x8, but I know a Weld would be lighter, but for the few extra pounds you save, it really isn't worth the extra money in my eyes.
Damn i was going to ask about them i just saw them as i just started looking at front runners for an 03 cobra the ones im looking at are the summit warrior rt
they look sort of like a weld prostars ( my opinion is they look better by pics)
they cost $95 not $160 like welds for a 15 x 4
they are 1 piece which means they are prolly a pound or 2 heavier
they have 1/2" LESS backspacing which means the wheel is pushed out (maybe get away with a 1/2" wheel spacers since on the welds you normally run a 1" spacer
they also use a cone seat lugnut(read factory style) instead of shank ones
my point is i think they would make a great front runners for guys that normally run on the street and just wanna cheap quick change at the track
actually ill have to check but i think they look like centerline telstars
I have ran 3 different sets of front skinnys and weighed each.
15x4 jegs star w/ radial = 29lbs each
15x3.5 weld pro star with radial = 29lbs each
17x4.5 greg weld prolite with front runner = 28lbs each
these are all from the same scale.
Jegs are much cheaper than the prostars, yet weigh the same! I can't comment on the rears though, as I never had a set of jegs rears. I did have a set of prostar 15x8's with m/t 28" slick and they were 40lbs each
the way i figured it it was reversed so less than an inch of spacer
i bought some used jegs stars and i have a one inch spacer on the way so well find out what it takes but i guess it depends on the size of the wheel too..
i have the jegs stars and i preffer them over the welds i dis like the lugs for welds where the jegs/summits run a regular lug... and on welds on the 94-04 GTs you have to run a 7/16 spacer which really need longer studs the jegs stars i ran a 7/32nd spacer still have plenty of factory stud
