That is a really nice set up for alot cheaper then I had thought. I already have a compressor so this is definitely worth looking into. One question tho. How difficult is it to set up the paints for spraying? And what about maintenance of the gun? I'm sorry I really know absolutely nothing about the airbrush portion of the hobby.

I built a bunch when I was younger but only have a few that made it through life and moves: 2 f14s, a b17, a sn95 saleen, 2001 lightning, super stallion mustang, 66 Malibu, 70 challenger, and that see through rotating v8 engine.

I had recently thought about building some again and this thread reinforces that, but I just don't have the time

As a kid, I built a number of AMT car models. I remember it to be lots of fun, and challenging at times. I also remember building Revell war planes and hanging them from my bedroom ceiling using fishing line. It really looked pretty cool.

I'd love to go at it again, but don't really have the time.

Yeah man, as long as you got a compressor that you can controll outlet pressure it's really all you need. I highly recommend the Iwata Neo as a good first time gun. It's an easy to use dual action gun that is jack of all trades. Paints really are preference based but I use a mix of Tamiya and Vallejo acrylic paints with a 60% thinner to 40% paint ratio.... doesnt have to be exact but you can feel it out. Use a good quality air brush thinner such as tamiya, Mr. Color or what ever you find at Michaels. To clean it between sprays run the hard the hard core Rust-Oleum thinner you can buy in the one gallon tin from the hard wear or auto store through it. Maintenance is easy as unscrewing the needle, cup and front cap off and cleaning them nicely. I can do a more thorough walk through on that though for ya if you ever need, but it's not hard at all.

Best part about model building is that the project will always be there... it's not really a time sensitive deal... give it a try.. I bet you might find it a bit therapeutic

Getting closer... got a nice coat of flat clear on it. Hopefully I'll have this thing wrapped up this weekend. fb2c04e2048a96e1c15235d158dae97b.jpg
