Successfully restored the pipes. Happy because a new set is $1100. Dodged a bullet.

The acid bath removed the original burn marks from welding so I used a torch to add them back.

Congrats on the buy. I probably would of done the same. You sure are wasting no time. I wish I had some of that drive haha.

I'm waiting on the clutch arm actuator to get mine running again. Damn hydraulic clutch.

Make sure you do a leak down test before you fire it up. I actually had an oem Kawasaki intake boot fail leak down on my Banshee this summer. They forgot whatever makes it rigid when they molded the rubber boot.

I was doing some research and apparently these 421 cub motors can make 90-100whp which to me is just nuts.

This thing has 39mm carbs, an ignition plate that was set to 6* and prior owner said it was running on race gas. I'll cc the cyl head domes to see what they are... that part I haven't yet figured out so ill cc them.

My guess is she's gonna be a damn ripper.

Excited!

Could you run e85??
Yes, however it isn't consistent as we all know. You either test every time you use it or set timing to a low threshold. I have no clue if jettings needs to be changed. I sure hope not.

With the alcohol content, i assume you still have to purge and run regular gas/premix through it like on alcohol so the bottom end does not rust.

Anything but pump gas is a pita for me. I just don't like having to go out of my way for it. Read as, "I'm lazy".

You sure can. Lots of guys simply raise the carb needles and increase pilot and main jet sizes by 30-35%. It's a good ballpark starting point.

Around me e85 is everywhere so it's something I might play with.

Excellent.

I picked up a CRF125 (for my son) and it’s fuel injected, I’m thinking high compression piston and a bigger injector to run e85 when he gets bored.

Cleaned cases, getting ready to assemble with new crank, seals, gaskets, etc.

Bottom end assembled. Just need to hang pistons and install cylinder and head. Cylinder is being PC'd right now.. hope to have it back later today.

I can't believe your PC guy turns parts around that quick, I don't know what Im more impressed with his turn around time or how fast you got it put back together, well done.

Yeah, after working with 3 or 4 of them in years past, I think I finally found a ringer. He was same-day on 2 different trips for me this past week. Excellent work and fast turnaround... and reasonably priced!

If the banshee guy was staged and leaning forward he may have won that race. Even with the knobby tires

Edit… if one of us were on that Yamaha we would have won ;-)

Speaking of 2strokes & fox body's...I enjoyed this 30 second walk around vid listening to that 500cc idle, and watch for the '93 Cobra cameo appearance in the background.

You got the Banshee running in no time. Very impressive! PC work looks amazing. I especially like the plain black cool head. Mine is the same. I hate non oem logos/designs on my bikes.

If you ever decide to ride dirt/grass fields, get a stock length swing arm. I absolutely hated my bike 6+ but we have no sand here.

Enjoy and be safe. It's a lot of fun to ride a high hp bike like that. It just keeps on pulling. If the cub feels too peaky, you can sell the cylinders and get a serval cub.
