You're ****ing kidding me right? Surely this is just some early April fools that is being pulled here. "Yates was convicted of capital murder in 2002, but acquitted in 2006 after jurors found her innocent by reason of insanity. The stay-at-home mom had a history of mental illness and suicide attempts before drowning Noah, 7, John, 5, Paul, 3, Luke 2, and Mary, 6 months, after her husband, Rusty, left for work. Yates confessed to the killings after calling police to her home. A police video showed a wet sock in the hallway and the body of one of Yates' children faced down in the bathtub. The other four bodies were laid on a bed and covered with a sheet. In tapes released to ABC News' "Primetime" in 2006, Yates said she drowned her children because she didn't want them to go to hell. Yates' defense team argued she was influenced by Michael Woroniecki, a preacher from Oregon. "The church she requested to attend is 180 degrees different from the ramblings of that hell, fire and brimstone preacher," said Parnham. "She would just like to get back into a stable church whereby God and Christianity become a role in her life. There's nothing nefarious about that." Got to be careful what you listen to because it determines what you believe and can lead you to do some crazy things. I didn't realize that it can be that easy to eventually leave a pysch ward. Maybe they should start by buying the sermons from that church on cd. Most churches have their sermons on cd, at least mine does.
Exactly... Why is she still alive??? People are so stupid, and according to today's society she is just a misunderstood person. Looking to find her own little niche in life. Nobody should judge her, there is no right or wrong. Whatever floats her boat right? Right? Right? :xpl:
Scripture swayed her to murder five kids; clinical diagnosis, she needs less dynamic scripture and then she should be fine to go forth. Sounds perfectly reasonable, anyone need a babysitter?
If religion can turn her around, why not? She obviously is detached from reality to do what she did. Relgion is a perfect fit.
Its easy to say "it was scripture" that swayed her to murder those kids but its a bit more complicated than that. For starters, the woman had some serious mental problems. Twice tried committing suicide. Her mind was subjected to extensive antidepressant use. Antidepressants are not as safe as they are made out to be by the psyhciatric field. She wasn't functioning normally. The fact is she was a mentally unstable person that was heavily influenced by a very unstable "traveling preacher." And I say that the preacher was unstable because he went around preaching that every person is going to hell, Christians included. The guy is just crazy or biblically ignorant. Yates believed the things he was saying and in her own unstable mind, saw killing her kids as a way to "save them from hell." The whole situation is bizarre in so many ways. People with serious mental health issues that are taking antidepressants are just as capable of violence as a street criminal. Most people just see the body bag count in this story and lose sight of all the things wrong with this woman's mind.
As other's have said, why is she even alive to be considered for release to attend church? Her 5 children will never have the chance to choose what church to attend, or make anyother choice for that matter. Additionally, given the woman's history of psychosis and suicide attempts, shouldn't we hold her husband at least partially accountable for all of this? As I recall, he even supported her at the trial... By continually reproducing with a known "crazy", I think that makes him at least partially at fault. He couldn't ever have expected her to be a good mother.
He wanted her to home school two of the kids, take care of three under the age of three years plus she was taking care of her father who was dying of cancer. It was said that he bragged about not even having to change diapers. When a policeman at the scene asked for a glass of water, the husband told him he would be lucky if he found a clean glass. Yeah, I'd say the SOB was partly responsible for her decline. Especially because it was documented she had postpartum depression. Hey, but don't worry about him, he's remarried and having a nice life now. Focker.
I know this is the Christian response, but is there anything more evil than a mother killing her own offspring? I really have a hard time accepting that people who reduce themselves to barbaric, animalistic behavior deserve God's mercy.
someone should tell Treyvon Martin's parents that Andrea Yates is in fact George Zimmerman's biological mother and that the Devil told her to tell George to kill Treyvon. maybe the Black Panthers will show up and off her?
Of course if you are atheist, then this shouldn't even matter. The morals of law which came from the Bible/religion should have no meaning towards any of the atheist in this thread. There are no absolutes, no truths, and no right/wrong with no ultimate law giver. Anything goes... therefore this is just nothing more than whatever you make it out to be if you are atheist. Atheist love to pretend they have morals, when they have no basis for it other than punishment from the law if they are caught.
