mid 5s is awful for a performance EV, even a base model. At this price point there shouldnt be that huge gap between the trim levels. I expect a v6 base stang to be alot slower but those were dirt cheap to where anyone with a min wage job could afford them. Over $40k base msrp is an entirely different market.

I actually like the front end. The rear is awful, looks like a dog hunched over about to take a steamer. The design would have been better lower and wider as a sedan. For a CUV i expect the profile to be closer to the older ford edge.

    this might flop HARD

OK, I get that battery cars will take over more and more of the automotive lineup but Ford calling this thing a Mustang makes it look like they're trying to bring some sort of relevance to this vehicle. What will they do next? Maybe they'll call the cord you plug into the car a "Hellcat Charger"

I'm not defending this thing, but I do feel you are a bit off base on performance.

    Audi E-tron 0-60 5.5, $74,000

    Model X 0-60 4.4, $73,000

    Jag I Pace 4.0, $70,000

    Hyundai Kona Electric 6.4, $38,000

It seems right in line with what it should be. Tesla has spoiled us with what we expect out of an electric car.

There are smaller SUVs/hatches but I didn't include them as it seemed like the Kona and the I Pace were already quite a bit smaller than the Mach e

i think you are helping prove my point. The jag, audi and tesla are premium luxury brands which are typically 50% more to an equivalent ford anyway even for similar or sometimes less performance.

the hyundai is purely an economy EV, definitely not marketed for performance and its alot cheaper.

I think the mach-e is too expensive and thus will be competing with premium brand while also not being cheap enough to market to the masses. Mustang fans will buy a "real" gas powered mustang so who's going to buy these?

I mean, comparing against the E tron and the I Pace, they are nearly twice the price, and offer similar performance. The I pace obviously pips it 0-60, but range is similar (that's definitely a metric we are going to need to pay attention to now). It matches the e tron in 0-60 and beats it in range, for $35k less.

The purely economy Kona(which is only $5k cheaper, and FWD vs AWD) is slower in performance and has like 80 miles less range.

So again, it seems like it's exactly where it should be.

The only outlier is Tesla, but to be fair, they are killing everyone else at this point.

I'd be surprised if Mustang enthusiasts bought this, but there will be a lot of people who recognize the name (and don't give a shit like we do) and opt for it because it's an SUV/CUV, is $30k-$35k cheaper than other options and offers similar performance/range.

God that interior looks terrible. It reminds me of the old Ford Focus.

Tesla interiors are very stark as well. This is due to the fact that the main screen is the driver command center. No tradition gauges. The interior takes getting used to. I know. My brother has a Tesla Model 3.

I’m thinking maybe it helps with battery consumption? Maybe? I do know it looks plain and boring as ****. Nothing about that car is exciting. Exterior is like a boring suv minivan thing and the interior is empty, literally empty.

Man the more I think about it the more I think WTF.

“ the future of exhilaration “. Ok bud.
Take away the stupid huge touch screen on the inside and tell me what your favorite and most exhilarating piece of interior is.
