nah bro I used that voodoo magic I learned while working for an HVAC company... god some people... bless your heart.

If he's got any charge at all he's gonna be absolutely fine jumping that switch for a minute to verify the compressor is operating correctly. It's the oil starvation that will kill a compressor. Those little gauges you get from auto parts stores are basically worthless and I wouldn't trust one for a second.

I'm no expert but I knew better than to run to the repair shop just because my AC blows hot air.

take care to AC shop have them diagnose and find the leak. Replace components recommended, go to autozone rent tools and recharge yourself. Save $500 by doing it yourself. I have do this on many cars with no issues, look up the specs put the proper amount of PAG and R134 and you are good.

If you do not have time or are intimidated pay them to fix.
