Now you know why their abject failure is being hidden.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) website lists a set of three goals as part of their strategic plan to "address key challenges" in emergency management.

The number one goal listed in the agency's priorities is to "instill equity as a foundation of emergency management."

The second goal is "Lead Whole of Community in Climate Resilience" .

The third goal is "Promote & Sustain a Ready FEMA & Prepared Nation."

my
Company does a lot of hurricane relief ( I’m in food)

We have an office in charlotte, and it’s bad. We are hiring third party freight companies to deliver a shit Ton of extra food to help the relief

2 weeks ago $1700

Yesterday $4500 a load

1) Is that price gouging compounded by the longshoreman’s strike that started today?
2) Will the strike decimate the hurricane relief efforts?

I’ve read/seen that strike costs our Republic’s economy 2 billion/day.

No.

It’s price gouging because “ we know you need our trucks so **** you “ ( plus fuel issues )

The strike won’t have an effect on what we do ( mostly ) cause we make all food in house. And MOST ingredients come from here. But if the strike happens it’ll likely impact a few things.

I have a bud that lives just outside Asheville he’s from Florida so as far as being prepared for power outages no groceries he’s good.
He said the powers that be were not prepared for such a catastrophic event hence the response being slow.
He’s lucky with no significant damage.

The level of flooding was just unbelievable. The NOAA level gauge in Fletcher (just south of Ashville NC) read over 30ft at its peak. The 1916 flood was 20ft at that location and was the all time record till now. Typically the French Broad river is only 5ft deep in that location. Roads are washed away exposing now broken sanitary and other infrastructure.

And people give us shit for living Florida. Our sand saves our ass sometimes. You have clay, no place for that water to go. I feel for you poor people.

the area was already saturated too, lots and lots of rain this year. It washed our driveway out a couple of times to the point it had to be completely redone.

One dealer.

According to Ken Ganley, owner of Ken Ganley Kia New Port Richey, floodwaters from the hurricane destroyed 660 new and used vehicles that it had on the lot, as well as 12 customer cars that were in for repairs, bringing the total number of totaled vehicles to 672. Those aren’t his numbers, either. Those are the numbers the insurance adjusters gave him after they visited the dealership to evaluate the damage.

That's a heartbreaking photo and report. SO sad!!!
It truly is Bob. I been feeling the sorrow for a few days now. I’m only a couple hours drive away from the area. Wish there was more I could do. But thank God there are great people from all over helping out in this disaster to say the least.

When the Camp Fire destroyed Paradise, CA a woman I know loaded up her horse trailer with supplies. We all donated items and money and she just hauled it up there. You might see who in your neighborhood is doing the same.
