Not sure where to put this...

Trying to help the ex wife out. 2008 FJ cruiser and just saw the key and fob are held together with tape.

Called Toyota...$340 for the key and programming.

Look online and I see some aftermarket ones for $25. You need to cut and program them. Saw comments that most locksmiths can do all of this.

Anybody have experience in going this route?

check with ACE hardware. Had them cut and program key and fob for our 2008 Tahoe. They can read the codes from you existing key/fob. I think it was about a hundred bucks and worked like a champ. I checked their site and they can do an FJ.
