Looking to pick up a set of these wheels this weekend and was just curious, were these things always $500+ a piece?

Are they that special? I mean, I like them.

I really like them too but I've heard many stories about bad quality control on the chrome finish that I don't think I would risk $2200 on them.

I bought my AFS wheels a long time ago. Probably close to 10 years ago when they were first making them. I think I paid $695 for an 18" staggered set with the machined face and black powdercoated barrel. Inflation is killing this industry! This modding thing is becoming a rich mans game.

CCW's have always been over $3000 for a set since I've been into late model Mustangs. And that started back in 2004 for me.

I have a set of the 17” chrome AFS and the face of the wheel is fine but the areas around the holes are very flakey and not smooth. It was common on them. Not a big deal back in the day when they were under $200 a wheel new.

I saw the price of these the other day and almost fainted. I wouldn't touch them for the price they are selling for now.

Jesus.. I remember 10 yrs ago buying them for $750.00
I bought my set in Jan 2010 with wheels and tires already mounted and balanced for $900 shipped to my door. Crazy to think it costs more than that now for just two bare wheels.

Yeah.. so I can vouch the quality is not what it used to be. I had some AFS back in the day quality was very nice, and for a fraction of the price. I got some in and had to return them because there was pitting, and some blemishes on them upon unboxing. Maybe I was picky.. but for $500 a rim. I think not.
