Pretty much.

Amazing how one man's innovation created an entirely new manufacturing structure.

Nowadays productivity and efficiency in assembly line manufacturing is by the second.

Henry ford get credit for the assembly line but wasn't the idea already in use in the meat packing/ butchering industry?

You are correct, Henry Ford originally got his idea from the meat packing industry. Henry Ford's assembly line is simply the reverse of the old meat packing industry's

Henry Ford was just the most successful at using an idea that someone else created. He didn't come up with interchangeable parts either, Eli Whitney has Henry Ford beat on that.

You could say the same of Edison. And George Eastman. It's ironic that the guy who has the new, clever, revolutionary idea is very often horribly bad at trying to implement that idea.

Henry Ford was just the most successful at using an idea that someone else created. He didn't come up with interchangeable parts either, Eli Whitney has Henry Ford beat on that.
