I recently just bought a 97 cobra with a kennebell on it, it came with the SCT chip and a dial switch. Is there a way to tune this or should I go to a handheld? Previous owner said there's no "cold idle tune* which you have to hold your foot to the floor to start it. However, after its started it runs great. Until you turn it off, then it will not start again till the next day. It will crank and crank all day but not start. Is there anything else I can look at?

Did he drive it like that? If you can find a tuner that still burns chips they can do it.

How well did you look the car over? What else is done to the car?

It drove great and started great on the test drive. It runs very well, when it does start. Only thing else done is cat delete and x pipe. It does have 42lb injectors which makes me thinks its in the tune to why it floods at startup. I've been searching everywhere for people who burn these chips and haven't had luck. Just don't want to fork over the $500 for the tuner and $400 for tune on a handheld just yet

96/97 is a 2 bank ecu. You can write it with a quarterhorse but I don't have the logging functional on that ecu as of this writing its something we are working on adding to tunerpro. Works fine for the older and newer ecu's just those oddball 2 banks put the shadow memory in an inaccessible area the way its setup right now.

In any case, yes you would an xcal to log. Doesn't have to be unmarried though or even for that vehicle just using it to log is all.

UPDATE / CORRECTIONS

As of 15 minutes ago I have the code functional to datalog the 2 bank ecu's directly using the QH in tunerpro. SCT device is no longer needed you can do it all with the QH directly.

Been a long time coming.
