Figured I'd start a thread for my 96 ford ranger coyote setup progress. I'll have to post some pics later but the details of the swap are as follows:
Truck was a 2.5 Turbo setup previously, so it's already got some go fast stuff in it I'll be reusing.
Front suspension setup (the key to making this swap easy) is an AJE strut front end that they produce for 97 and earlier rangers. The truck has had this setup in it since last winter. The massive stock crossmember in this trucks, as well as the steering box really make a modular/coyote swap difficult. Lucky for me that stuff is long gone.
Drivetrain:
2014 F150 motor with 25k on it. This will be getting mustang intake cams and billet oil pump gears. Behind that is a mcleod steel flywheel with the same 10.5" RXT clutch that was in the 2.5 setup. Quicktime bell and a midshifted tko (this was also already installed). That is backed up to the already installed 8.8, 3.73 rear end.
I'll be going with the ford control pack, boss alternator kit, and possible a Boss 302 intake with Nitrous outlet plate.
Challenges for this setup are going to be headers (much easier with the aje k member then stock), steering shaft clearance (more pictures on that later), and the custom core support I have tacked together (did this because the stock one was starting to show some rust, and the new one is cleaner looking. It also gained be a few inches of radiator to motor clearance so it's a win win.).
Anyways, I'll keep this updated as I go. I've seen pictures of ranger swaps before but have yet to see someone actually post details about it.. so here it is for anyone that likes rangers.
