I thought it was worthwhile to post...and besides i always wanted to run an s2k.

Im proud of my car and what ive done to her. Ive had her for 10 years and shes still kicking. Ive put my hard earned money into her. It is what it is.

Ok, which size turbo? What kinda boltons would said 96 cobra have?

You do know that some sn95 modulars are putting down over 300 at the wheels n/a?

This is a very broad statement you made.

All I'm saying is that I've never seen a turbo S2000 make less than ~350rwhp, which in a 2,800lb car scoots pretty good. It's also worth noting that boosted Honda's have decent top end and back half like crazy, so the longer you go with one the uglier it gets if power numbers are identical.

Even assuming your NA 4.6 DOHC makes 325rwhp, it's a good bit heavier and doesn't have the top end steam of a boosted Honda. I'm not saying your race is a lie, but I am saying you beat the driver if anything. Good for you for keeping your car so long and putting your own time and money into it. But given your mods list, you're not walking a properly driven boosted DOHC Honda of any kind.

If anything, he had an extra passenger.

    Very mature response.

You ran him on the he highway, but saw the turbo under the hood?

Did the turbo look like this?
    Picture035.jpg

All joking aside, your car making 280 rwhp, would pretty much run neck and neck with a stock S2000 at a drag strip
    Stock 96-98 Cobra 1/4 mile = 13.8-14.0
    S2000 1/4 mile = 13.7- 14.0

From a roll, a stock S2K would probably pull away from a stock B head Cobra given the weight difference and power made up top.

Maybe the S2K missed a shift or 3?

OP, the story is believable to me. I rode in a Jackson Racing (I think) supercharged S2k about 10 years ago and was underwhelmed. It wasn't a slouch, but I'd have guessed it was no faster than low 13s...certainly not in the 12s. Granted, a blown Honda is not the same as a turbo Honda...but it's certainly in the same league (if it was just a small turbo). When he put it into a corner, the body started to roll a little...then it flattened out and it rode the rails like a go-cart...now that was impressive.

I agree with what you say about the times stock but op car is no longer stock its fbo geared with 410s and it helps those cars even on the highway up till you have to shift to 5th that is i once had a car just like his with 410s. Hes prob running low 13s easily with possible high 12s with a tire. If it was a smallish turbo with a crap tune and driver it very easily could have been running those times or slower. Op car should trap 106-107ish i would think. Its possible..its also possible maybe his idea of "walked" was barely pulling without a video its hard to say some people exagerate. Not saying this happened but its possible. Ppl act like sn95 cobras are awful or something i mean i know today's cars are leaps and bounds above them but with a few bolt ons and gears they can be in the high 12s which isnt that bad. You wouldnt be too far behind a stock coyote (not 3rd gen) with a good driver. Anything can happen on the streets. I just have a sweet spot for those early 4v cobras...i showed many stock to light modded lt1 cars tailights in mine back in the day and it was also light modded and geared similar to the op car. Some were auto some were manual. I beat cars i shouldnt have on paper and kept up with others but i feel i am above average when it comes to shifting and the car ran good for what it was. Like i said anything can happen on the streets and you guys know the most important mod is the driver mod

I beat the shit out of some turbo something or other yesterday but if you think I'm going to admit that around here you're effing crazy.

    Nice win, OP!

Agree...likely beat the driver. I guarantee there are plenty of boosted S2000's not putting down 350 RWHP...obviously depends on boost and turbo/SC size..but using your experience as a blanket statement for all Honda S2000s is not really accurate. Stock S2000s make 170 or so RWHP?...you think they make 180+ more RWHP with a small turbo?.. possible but would be needing to run 15# of boost...

Bench racing never proves anything but not like OP stated he beat a C5Z or Hell Cat?

I don't know how else you expect people to speak except from experience, because otherwise it's conjecture and useless. I dabbled in the Honda game from 2008-2014 and know a thing or two about a wide variety of their offerings and what they're capable of. The fact remains that unless you're talking about a Jackson Racing/Comptech/Vortech supercharged S2000, which we're obviously not, it's going to make roughly 350rwhp. That could be anywhere from 325-375rwhp BTW.

A boosted F20, which stock makes 190-210rwhp, just isn't going to produce 300rwhp or less unless it is on miserably low boost or has no timing in it, which would totally defeat the purpose of forced induction. Now we have to consider the competition is OP's 280rwhp 3,300lb car. Like I said, even if he did win the race against a turbo S2000, he beat the driver. And you seem to agree.
