So I figured I would make an official build thread for my 4 banger/Auto '89 Notch. Started to locate parts and stuff seems to be coming along good so far. I will take some pics and put them up soon.

Found a donor car with good grey interior to replace the porno red interior.
An '88 GT rearend with 3.73's.
LSC 5 lug swap.
Will be doing nearly full suspension and a cage.
Found a good '71 351 block, still unsure of if I am going with this and building it or buying a shorblock from CHP, DSS, or maybe fordstrokers?

The car will be 80-90% drag oriented, looking for low 10's-high 9's with decent street manners. Unsure if I will keep the p/s or not, but a/c is going away.

I do have a question though, I am undecided as to go with a built AOD or a C-4. What are the pro's and cons of each?

Woudl also like to stay efi if possible.

Feel free to offer up opinions and advice. I am really looking forward to this and am expecting it to take about a year and a half to complete.

forget the AOD, put a built 4R70W behind it... atleast you'd have O/D unlike the C4.

Wont be hard at all to stay efi, you could find plenty of 351 EFI setups off of fullsize fords...

Sounds like a fun proj though! :)

+1 on the built AOD. I had one in my coupe for a couple years. It was fun on the street with the manual valvebody. Had no problem on the highway. Just don't go too crazy on the Converter. They are a bit pricey though.
