If it was my build, with 1000hp goal I would do a fabricated housing with a real 9inch, available in any length you want, you could have the center section of your choand change then easily to suit different conditions. My car is a street car no where near that serious so I have an 8.8, 3.73’s and 31’s with a Detroit locker
funny thing is... this is a weekend car and mostly street driven. I do plan on taking it to the track a few times a year but mostly street driven.

Does anyone know how much we can narrow the rear end on a 99-04 8.8 without mini tub? I am debating on how much to narrow it and what backspace to run for 15x10.

I would say about 1.25" per side from my rough math. Anything shorter and it's going to rub the tire on the inside. 99-04 are 55.5" end to end.

What tire do you want to run? Do you already have the wheel/tire combo you want to run? Mock ups available?
A 275/60/15 MT Pro on a 15x10 with 6.5” fits a Foxbody with rolled fenders and some hammer work inside. I believe the SN95s are significantly roomier inside.
The 325/50/15 MT ETR looks even better to me but I’m pretty sure you can tuck either under your car and either tire is 7sec capable.
I’d guess 1” is safe but you might consider building a Fox length 8.8 as that’s .75” shorter per side and all the math is done.
Good luck

I have ran 325/50/17 with a 17x11 and 6 3/4 backspacing before. I am really wanting a 4 inch back spacing or something in that area. I like the lip on those wheels. Not a fan of 6.5 backspace. So around an inch or 1.25" is about all we can go?
