ford is just saving the DI for a 2 year improvement. They could come to market more affordably and competitively with PI, why bother with DI if you are already winning the battle? dont shoot your wad in a single battle, theres a bigger war at hand. planned phased improvement is my bet.

FWIW, I believe Ford is currently being sued by MIT for their particular application of duel fueling. Not sure if that has anything to do with it though.

Would like to take a look at the head casting to see what, if any provisions have been designed in.

    Hmmmm....
Been looking for a new truck to replace my F150...don't really lke the looks of the current SD's...do think the new grill is a vast improvement...don't need a diesel, feel the 6.2 is "too small"...just waiting on the 7.3 numbers.

I like the fact that it is port fuel/only. If the added complexity and cost of DI yielded next to nothing then so be it.

Start watching that video at the 9min mark.. Compact narrower engine design, oil squirters under the pistons like the supercharged GT500s have, same high heat coatings the turbo engines use on piston/rings, same valves and seats as turbo engines, high flow heads, 4 bolt mains with 2 cross bolts.. This thing is beefy and is going to have extra room under the hood compared to the 6.2. I don't know if they will ever factory boost it but I think the aftermarket companys will have fun with this engine. It might be a popular crate engine as well because of its simplicity and size, that is why the chevy LS is a much more popular swap vs the huge ford DOHC modular engines. I for one am very happy to see ford building a single cam engine again.

It's going to drink gas like a drunken sailor right out of boot camp.

So what. It's bad ass... I'd take one for towing/heavy-haul duties in a second.

While I'm more than happy with the new 3.0L V6 in the half-ton (it tows a one car trailer just fine), I'm really curious to see what this engine outputs.
