Follow along if you would like to see my progress.
69 Mustang, currently has a 302 in it with a C4. I have a 429 apart on my engine stand i am prepping and building to put in its place.

Car will be mostly stock minus the 429 and some small fender extensions to fit some old school wide Cragar SS rims under.

Ill be painting it grey por15 etching primer and then jet black. Im giving it a distressed look so I will be sanding spots in the paint to allow some grey primer to show in some areas. I will then clear coat it with a matte clear coat.

pictures to follow

Looks like a pretty solid car to start with. Should be fun stuffing that motor in. Keep the updates coming, love to see the work on these. Also, any more details on the 70? Looks like a nice car as well.

I built the 70 Mach one about 8 years ago for my wife. Was nothing but a shell. Now it has a 395 stroker in it with Holley Sniper EFI. 3000 stall converter mated to the original fmx.

Knocked out a few hours of sanding. Still have a few bumps and bruises to fix. Being the paint will be a distressed look, I’m not to concerned unless it’s and issue that will cause the paint to lift

That's going to be a great build. What gave you the distressed-look idea?

I’m retired yet have limited time with a touch of zero patience with an addition to I’m not the greatest at bodywork. So if I paint it to look distressed then any error I make doesn’t count. I can claim it as “ you like how I did that?”

Majority of the body is painted now. Fender flares are on but haven’t been distressed yet. Hood and trunk still need to be painted but the rest of the body is done minus matte clear coat.

A bit more done today. Flat black the hood. Need to distress it tomorrow, also painted the cowl and repaired the trunk lid with fiberglass. Fun stuff. You can see I distressed and then riveted the rear fender flares on. Rivets will probably remain aluminum color. Undecided at the moment.

Finished up painting some misc pieces but now hitting the motor. Crank goes out this week for the 429, blocks completely cleaned, honed and now painted. I went with this color because I want it to be a shock when the hood is opened.

Taillights and wiring is all run. So little by little I’ll be putting the body pieces on. Everything is painted. Bad news is I inspected my motor a bit more and found a burr on a cam bearing. So I’ll be taking it in for new bearings. Oh well.
I have my crankshaft back. Have main/rod bearings, rings, gaskets on the way. Ordered a .494/.494 comp cam. She should breathe good.
