Curious if anyone else has tried the 60-130 timer with the Torque Pro app on their droid. I would think it is fairly accurate based on it reading the cars speed sensors. It was a nice 68 degrees tonight so I figured I didnt have to worry about the 555r's breaking loose in 3rd gear like they do at 40 degree temps.

I would love to try out a Vbox sometime to verify.

Did one pull tonight after taking the car to fill up with 93 octane. Started @55mph in 3rd gear(3.73 rear) @ approx 3300rpm. 1 shift into 4th, the on to 130. Managed to get it in 6.49 secs.

For those not aware, the 60-130 times are not from starting at 60mph.. when they do them, they start below 60 and timer starts @ 60.

Here are some other times I found posted out there on the interwebs:

I've done some vbox 60-130s in my 5.0, in fact the 12.42 is my time on that list.

I've since been able to muster a mid 11 at a 1/2 mile runway event with my tune/exhaust 5.0.

What all is done to your gt500, that is a good time.

Thanks.. the car has:

2013 TVS w/ 2.4 upper @18psi
65mm TB/Elbow
JLT 127mm CAI
72lb injectors
Factory exhaust/manifolds with gutted cats
305/35-20 555r drag radials

Last time on the dyno it laid down 690rwhp.

How many shifts did you have to do on your pull? I debated staring in 2nd gear at about 50mph, but thought that the extra shift would hurt the time. I might try again sometime... just not alot of safe areas to do 60-130 pulls around here without having to worry about being seen by the police. Just 1 shift on this pull.. into 4th, which @130 I am right at the point of needing to go into 5th gear. Guess I need to do 40-130 races instead of 40-140 if I do. :)

Nice, that explains the time:rockon:

It will. I've tried that as well but it hurts your time, even as a great shifter (which I'm not) you are going to lose momentum etc. My best times are from starting in 3rd and doing shift to 4th and then 5th. I wish I didn't have to go to 5th to hit 130.

Yeh, but you are only on it for 7 seconds... imagine having to be on it for nearly twice the time :)

Cool to see others doing 60-130 stuff, few do that in the mustang scene.

I'm not so much into the dragstrip, as I work too much to have the time to fine tune the launches etc. I also don't like subjecting the car to parts breaking launches. I much more prefer the "inpromptu Vette rolls up on you on the interstate highway rolls"

Yeah, I've never gotten into strictly drag racing either. I've been to strips and done it, but I too just don't find it that fun dialing in a suspension and perfecting a launch that like you said puts so much strain on the drive train.

Impromptu encounters and runway events are fun though.

Definitely.. I would love to do a runway even sometime. A location in Georgia hold an event like this every year. If I still have the car by then, I may make a trip down there.

Sounds like a cool way to compare performance without the hard launches and time\effort of a drag strip, but it seems it would be a better way to compare roll racing times if the app required you to be at a steady 60mph for a full second before you punch it.

I would tend to agree in a way.. but even the big guys who do the Vbox stuff roll into it before 60. Its just the standard way that it is done. So all of the times are consistent, with them accelerating through 60mph, then time starts.

Just out of curiosity, why are 60-130 times important? I've heard of 0-60/0-100 but never 60-130. Does it have something to do with roll racing?

The 60-130 is representative of an impromptu encounter on the highway.

And you roll through 60 as opposed to trying to be exactly at 60 and then punch it because of how a vbox works. If you try to get dead on 60 the vbox starts timing as soon as you first hit 60 not when you go full throttle. So your times would be meaningless and not repeatable. That is why you start under 60 to ensure you were at WOT as you pass through 60.

If accurate, that's an impressive time! Thing must be a blast to drive. Do you set the mph range you want it to take time for?

Hopefully the ricers/teenagers never find this app. lol

Nope, the app does it by itself. It is configurable where you can set your own gauges up.. rpm, a/f, speed, etc. It also has built in timers.. 60-120, 60-130, 80-100 etc. Pretty neat app. Just put the 60-130 gauge(you define the type.. bar graph, digital, dial etc) on the screen and it starts and stops automatically based off vehicle speed sensors. It has gps capabilities too.

Here is some info on the app:
