I have some brand new Diamond pistons that I was going to use for a 5.4L build but I got my hands on "something" else so no more 5.4. Since I have these pistons already I was just curious if 5.4L pistons can be used in a 4.6L block, I know 4.6 pistons can be used in 5.4s but just not sure if they'll work the other way around.

5.4s and 4.6s use the same pistons. Those should work if their compression height is 1.22" or 1.225". What is their compression height?

A "Zero" deck 5.4 piston has a Compression Height of 1.330 and can NOT be used in a 4.6L

The dish will also play a part in it as the same dish size will yield alot different CR between the two engines.

Compression height is 1.330", guess these pistons will be up for sale soon then.

Thanks for the help guys:beer:

Yup, would have liked for them to have been .020" over bore but since the block I found only needed to be honed then these would have worked fine.

I don't understand the higher compression height and the 11.5cc dish volume. Why not just go with a lower CD and a flat top which promotes better flame travel.

I bought them from another member so I wasn't the one that custom ordered them that way. Him and Excessive Racing told me that the pistons were 11.2:1 compression pistons which is why I went ahead and bought them from him but I do remember giving you the specs and you told me they were 10.2:1 not 11.2:1. Either way, I won't be using them anymore.
