i have a 02 3.8 v6, started knocking 2 days ago. knocks the loudest at idle and on deceleration (engine braking is loudest)
going up a hill or something in 2nd gear with a load on the motor you literally can’t hear the knock at all. but as soon as you decel it comes back.
the knock is a higher pitched noise and doesn’t sound too very bad.
on startup, you can hear it RATTLE and then starts knocking. at certain rpm it goes away, and certain rpm it’s quite loud.
do these have a flex plate that can crack and make a knock? almost sounds like valve train noise. maybe a spun cam bearing?
there WAS metal in the oil.
