Recently swapped 3.73 to 3.31’s. Thinking about going even lower (numerically) to reduce amount of shifting and lessen the hit of the Whipple Supercharger. I’ve seen one FI owner run the FP 3.15’s and he was very happy with the change. I’m leaning towards the Yukon gear which comes in a 3.08 or 3.27.

How would a 3.08 effect 1/4 mile times running a 26-27” Tire and MT82? I know the GT500 has a long gear so it can’t be that bad on the street.

3.08 with the 4th gear of the m-82(1.32)= 150 @7600 on a 27" tire- 144-145 at the same rpm with a 3.15 - why do you want to choose a Yukon gear over the ford gear??

Thanks for that info. Installer said the Yukon’s are better quality and quieter than the Ford Performance. MM&FF’s just had this same guy install Yukon’s in a project car of theirs. I’m hearing different opinions on the two.

I recently got done with the 2.9 install as well but have yet to change the ratio. What differential did you go with if you dont mind me asking?

Still running the stock Torsen. Just swapped out the stock 3.73 for Ford Performance 3.31’s. Some say the Torsen can’t handle the power but I’ve seen otherwise. I’ll throw a spool on it if it breaks.

Yes. 28” MPSS daily, and 27” MT SS DR weekend. If I make the change it will be to the 3.15’s.

If it were me, I think I'd take only one step down to the 3.27s. I don't have any reasoning to back it up though.

I was actually thinking about going with 3.08's with my car too (if I decide not to sell it). I currently run 3.55's and the gearing is way to short for my power.
If I remember correctly, 3.08's will put you at 133mph at 7000rpm in 4th gear with a 26inch tire(which is what I have).

I have an mt82, 3.31 gears, and a 28" slick. I'm currently out of gear at 147mph in 4th at 7800rpm. Ive also debated the 3.08 or 3.15 gear swap so i can finish the 1/4 in 4th.

My dilemma is do I leave the gear the way it is and go with the Ben Calimer Gforce mt82, swap to 6060, or change the rear gear to suit the stock geared mt82?

29" slick = about 151 in the 1/4. are you there yet?(7700rpm***)
I'm probably there in actual speed but the track takes an average of two clocks for mph. My car is on the soft limiter at 7600rpm and barely touches the hard limiter at the end.
