Looking to buy some FR500 style wheels but the staggered setup offers a 20x8.5 (+35 w/ 6.20" backspacing) up front. I was hoping for a 20x9 or 9.5. Does anyone know if I would be able to run a 20x10 wheel up front with the right tire size? Sucks that it's only offered in either 8.5 or 10 inch wide.

Specs

20x10
+45 offset
7.25" backspacing

Thanks for the help

for what dude? a 10" rim up front is just gonna slow you down, decrease handling and hurt mpg

A 10" wide front wheel will not decrease handling. The car will handle better. It will track the road more however. All the road racing mustangs run 10"s all the way around.

Would you run the same size in the rear? If you did, you could run the same size tire all the way around and just rotate tires.

I run a 20x9.5 up front and use the Roush steering stop and I get absolutely no rubbing at full crank and no rubbing when I track my car. Plus I am lowered. I would try to run the 10" if you could.

If I decide to go with those particular wheels I will buy a pair of 20x10s and experiment with used tires at a buddy's tire shop. If they fit I'll buy the second pair and if they don't then I'll buy the 20x8.5s for the front. Thanks for the heads up. Can you post some pics of your ride?

295/30/20 should work well all the way around with 20x10

FWIW - Roush mounts 275/35/20 on 20x9.5 all the way around. I have these on my car now and haven't once noticed them rubbing in the front. The offset isn't as aggressive as some so I would say a 10" front could work depending on the offset. I plan to do 285/35/20 all the way around once this set of tires wears out.

Also, check the actual tire manufacturers specs - ex. some 305 Bridgestone’s are almost as wide as 315 Nitto’s. I am running Dunlop Sport Maxx and I think tread width is 10.1"

I run 275/35/20 in the front too. These are the stops I am talking about:Mustang Steering Rack Stops & Clamps Kit (2005-2012)

tay you change anything with the rear wheel setup or suspension? it looks perfectly flush in the above photos but in your for sale as they look like they stick out just a little.

So when you say 10" could work depending on offset...what about a +45 since that's what the wheel I'm looking at measures?

what's up kingnut. Nothing has changed in the rear besides a watts link. I know that on the s197 Mustangs that one side sticks out further than the other. There was a reason for it but I forgot what it was. Maybe that's what you saw? Next time look at your rear wheels of your mustang. it's pretty noticeable.

IDK I'm not sure what offset the Roush wheels are and couldn't find it when I tried to look it up. All I know is I don't rub and there is some room for a more aggressive offset so I think 10" front is possible . . .

Roush offset is +45 which is the same as SVT GT500 wheels. I plan to run a 285/35/19 on all 4.

The roush steering stop might be a good idea.
