Is that real? :)
I think Canada takes it unless Hellebuck steals one but still pulling for USA!

Bruins did exactly what I wanted them to do and load up on draft picks. There were no quick fixes for this team and its going to be a long rebuild process.

Agreed. I was hoping the Red Wings could swing for Pasta!
Not happy with my team currently but hoping for playoffs.

How are the Islanders doing this year?? I haven't been really following much

Islanders kind of suck. I think They were sellers at the trade deadline which tells you they've pretty much given up on the season.

I would have considered trading Pastrnak but he has been absolutely on fire the last 2 months.
Red Wings and Bruins are not in a good position. Both are not far out of a playoff spot but have multiple teams they need to leap frog and they all have games in hand on them too.

Congratulations to Nathan MacKinnon for becoming the first player to reach the 100-point mark this season.

1200 more assists to catch Gretzky.

good lord.

dont follow hockey all that closely but seemed like nobody would score that many goals again.

it would be interesting to see changes in overall like league shots on goal during his career vs Gretzky. Thats what has NBA all out of whack - speed of play, number of 3pnt shots per game etc. have tilted a ton of records.

Gretzky had 5088 shots on goal over the course of his career. Ovechkin currently has 6852.

Also an amazing stat is he broke the record in the exact number of games played as Gretzky. Both 1487 games played.

Gretzky still holds the record for total goals scored, regular season +playoffs, 1016 to Ovechkin's 964. That would probably mean Ovi play 2 more season if he's to break that.

The difference in assists is mind-blowing though. In my opinion part of it is that Gretzky had better players around him than Ovechkin ever did. Also, Wayne had some bad ass mofos protecting him and allowing him more freedom on the ice. NHL was rougher and dirtier in the 80s/90s than it is now.
