A Mustang-inspired electric Ford crossover? It's a thing—or at least, it will be a thing for 2021. The Mach E (not a final name, by the way) is using its Mustang connection, superficial though it may be, to generate appeal. Ford has to find a way to maintain at least the image that it's committed to the environment, and this EV will do the heavy lifting to help atone for the automaker's retreat from car sales in favor of an SUV-only lineup.

Yeah, the Mach registry forum doesn’t have anyone liking this thing. I can say I’m still not a fan of it.

The electric wave is coming.

Ford is more or less forcing dealers to pay $15k to be in the program. You're guaranteed 3 Mach E's the first year. Invoice = MSRP. Ford is going to pay dealers a dollar amount to sell them.

The electric F150 will be out next. Followed by 4-5 more all electric options in the next 5 years.

It's coming, whether we like it or not.

I predict massive losses. The market just isn’t ready to embrace electrics on a scale needed to be profitable.

Well let me just rush out and buy some stock then.

Unfortunately/fortunately, a vehicle line like this won't have a lot of negative affect on the stock. Hell, Wall Street will probably like it. They see it as looking towards the future, being innovative and taking risks.

Also, the Mach E HAS to be advertised at MSRP. Dealers cannot advertise a discounted price.

How it is that a reach? Are they marketing this as a redesigned mustang?

Absolutely not.

They're marketing it as an EV that gets 300+ miles/charge with the little battery. Has nothing to do with a Mustang.
