My wife wanted a new truck and with her Edge Sport at 60k miles we went and traded it in on a 2021 Explorer ST in Carbonized(i think that is what it is called) Grey with the Street Pack and Technology Pack.

Thing rips hard and is ridiculously comfortable. She is over the moon on this thing.

Went back to the dealer i worked for and they gave us a good deal along with her trade in of her Edge Sport.

Damn very nice. We just traded the wife’s expedition in on a limited explorer. I tried to get into the ST but the dealer here wouldn’t work any deals on it. MSRP and that’s it. I should have walked and found a dealer that would. We also looked at the Edge ST but the wife wasn’t interested. Good luck with the new ride.

Nice choice. A great SUV. Better than the 2021 Edge ST unless you only want two rows of seating and a slightly smaller SUV.

Does the 2021 Explorer ST will use the Sync-3,? Or does it include the better Sync-4 they put in the Mustang Mach-E.

We got the ST OTD at $54k w/ tax, tags and title. MSRP was right over $57k with the two option packs we chose so it was quite the deal. I did also work for this dealer so the salesman i worked with is an old friend so it might have worked to our advantage.

Its quite different from anything else ive seen. It has the 10" touchscreen on the inside versus the 8" screen of the non-tech pack models. So i dont know if that is sync 4 or not.

Ordered some Ford floor mats for the first and second rows. Tousley had the best price overall and was cheaper than my local dealer(with shipping) by $40 or so.

Ford makes you cut the second row floor mats for the captain’s chair rear? That’s some pretty bad design on the Accessories team.

Not too happy about that. Might get rid of these and grab some weathertech versions which just clip into place.

That's strange. I've never heard of that before. It would suck if you couldn't cut a nice, straight line.

How does it ride compared to the edge? I find the Edge Sport on the 21s can be firm at times.

We had a 2016 Edge sport with 21’ s and the ST with the 21’s rides much better but still firm. Keep in mind the seats in the Explorer are much better than the Edge had. The Edge rode good on the 18” winter tires.I did up size the Edge tires to 275’s and that did make some difference on it.

I swap to nice sidewall 18s for the winter. The seats in the edge look exactly the same as the ones in my fusion sport yet the fusion positioning seems more comfortable.

Might try 275s for the next set.

Very nice congrats, color combo looks good and ofcourse the black rims with the red calipers really give it that sporty look. 3.0TT gives plenty of power too.

The explorer ST was little to out of budget compared to the Edge ST completely loaded for me.

I dont really understand sending instructions with floor mats that have no reference materials to why it shows scissors and the middle section. The odd thing about it all was the part number was specific for the Explorer with second row captains chairs.

Going to put them in tonight and see how they fit without cutting them. If they do require cutting ill just sell them and get the Weathertech mats. Dont need anyone's OCD radar going off on a small cut. I have the Weathertech mats in my truck and they fit perfect. Wife wanted the Explorer logo though so that is what we ordered.

Seating position made all the difference. The Edge your legs nearly dangle downward while the flat floor of the Fusion Sport you extend them out. Its an odd feeling driving them back to back.

Also, no clue what tire they threw on the Edge ST but swapping our Edge Sport Pirellis to the Falken FK510 made all the difference. The Pirelli is an extremely hard tire(i assume to stiffen the sidewalls) and made alot of tire noise as they wore down. The Falken FK510's were significantly more comfortable even in the same size. Tire noise was also drastically less on the highway. One was a performance summer tire and the FK510 is more of a touring all season tire.

We had our first Edge Sport with the 20" wheel option and it was alot more comfortable than the 21" model we got after the buy back. The 21's were SUPER heavy and you could really feel it in the steering and over expansion joints(shocks did start seeping in the rear at 50k miles). Id find a lightweight set of 20" wheels and those would be perfect with the extra sidewall.

The 21" summer tires are lower profile, which explains why the ride is more harsh with them. The taller all-season tires are definitely more comfortable on the road. That's one reason why I chose 20" tires when I bought my '16 Edge Sport.

Just to update, the Ford floormats fit without having to cut anything. Really didnt understand why the instructions showed the scissor marks. Either way they are in and fit perfectly.
